Belfast and district clubs...
I am starting to organise a winter league at the newly refurbished Shankill Leisure Centre in Belfast. At present we are looking to ascertain:
a. Interest of clubs/ inter club teams etc
b. A potential sponsor for the league
The league is planned to commence in October / November, span the winter with a team playing fortnightly in 6 over matches indoor. Obviously adapted rules and regs will apply.
Please feel free to get in touch with queries / expressions of interest.

With the inclement weather now set to take up fair again by this Wednesday/Thurs.
I'm very pleased to announce that the pre-arranged friendly match between a Donacloney select-v-a 'Vic Johns'select eleven from Victoria C.C. will now go ahead as planned this Thursday evening 6pm start ! At 'the cloney'.
This game's been on the cards now for a good few weeks, as due to the high level of new players at both clubs it has been difficult to get everyone a match, players range from mostly younger fellas but I must include some maybe not 'that young', but still really keen to play cricket !
Still, great to be able to post an encouraging situ. report on the forum here on the level of interest for cricket all aroung Lurgan and the surrounding Borough/County and while I can't promise a Red Arrow display, there should be plenty of 'fire-works' on the field !
What's more, I'll be one of the umpire's officiating at the match, so was wondering if Andy Kennedy could stop by and make a 'celebrity' appearence ? Maybe give me a little help ? I don't want to be subject of any controversy... on my 'debut' !!!
and there was me thinking that Carrick had arranged for the said Red Arrows to fly past Middle Road for our game! while all these congratulations are going on I'd like to express my thanks to the Armagh boys for their spirit & humour yesterday at Mallusk. Despite the outcome they all played with a smile and a bit of witty banter. Also the bit of craic with Billy the groundsman made for an enjoyable afternoon.
I'd like to echo Mr Johns' comments. Not many nicer places to play cricket than Dundrum. Great ground, great setting, and a great cricket club to boot, with guys who play the game the right way. Thanks once again for the hospitality, and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
Thanks Vic for your comments. The Red Arrows display over Dundrum Bay is not something you would see everyday at a cricket match but I'm glad you enjoyed it. It cost a few quid to get them over but we're having a carboot sale to pay them! Glad to see the Victorians kept up their long tradition of coming back to the local watering hole to quench their thirst. Although some of the 1st team in Victoria who came to support you, had been quenching their thirst all day!!
While all around the country, there were many important matches being played today, none more so than a crucial league game down at sunny Dundrum with their 2nd eleven playing host to the travelling Victoria two's.
And what a great days cricket it was, plenty of runs, wkts and a nail-biting finish, this time for a change, 'the Victorians'just scraping over the 'winning line' !
But as well as the match our hosts had also laid on a real surprise for us compliments of the R.A.F. and eight of their very best fighter pilots and jet planes putting on a brilliant air display just for our entertainment !
Boys a boys.... those Dundrum folk fairly know how to organise a great day out for their visiting teams, but even better than the air-display itself was the super tea laid on by Mrs Maxwell and her loyal team, they were also able to cater for our travelling support as well, meaning everyone went home, well fed, well entertained and very happy !
Thanks to all.. at Dundrum C.C.
Good luck Waringstown CC tomorrow - make it a final spot to reclaim the Crown as All Ireland Champions.............
I'm cheering for Waringstown One's & two's tomorrow, was playing there at the lawn last Tuesday evening, albeit against their 5ths, and I took some heavy treatment from some of their batsmen.....
......And batswomen, would you believe ?
Thankfully on the second evening there was a very heavy shower just before we were due to bat and the match was postponed.
I just could'nt handle the thought of being bowled by a lady player, but fantastic to see the girls playing alongside the guys anyway ....
Great stuff Waringstown and 'Good-luck' tomorrow in the Bob Kerr semi at the lawn and ofcourse to the seconds in the final of 'the Junior Cup' !!
Would like to also wish Shieldsy and the boys all the best for the Junior Cup final tomorrow.
Hopefully they will make it 3 in a row and create their own bit of history.
Just remember: No we're not beat yet.
Good luck guys.
Dundrum wish Academy all the best in trying win 3 in a row . Lisburns bowling backed up by super fielding saw them beat Ciyms defending 88 winning by 7 runs in a 20 over game and Saintfield beat armagh with a ball too spare . ps Bet you Davy Greenlees will be hard too get the microphone off his beloved win the cup again .
I would like to wish Academy all the best in their attempt to make it a Three-in-a-row tomorrow when they take on Waringstown 2s in the Junior Cup Final in a repeat of last years final. The one omen that the boys have is that in each of the past 3 Junior Cup victories they have beaten Waringstown 2s at some stage along the way in the competition.
Good luck guys from a 2 time Academy CC Junior Cup winner.
Danny cheers CI v Lisburn that deff interest few id bet also sorry its Saintfield v Armagh tonight . Editor North down v Ciyms this sunday ? Start ?

Jeff
CIYMS v LISBURN tomorrow night at Belmont - 5pm start
Anyone no off any games on tonight or thurs ( saintfield v academy thurs )as fancy run out premier if possible . Yes congratulations to Cliftonville & Ciyms and all the staff at comber as i witnessed first hand on looking for a cup of tea birthday DRINK for the wife Robin Haire got her sandwiches an buscuits so well done all the members an groundsman Raymond Moreland . Dundrums unpaid for 50 years groundsman Tommy Curlett is recovering from a knee operation so will be out till next season as we have already found out their is a lot off work preparing an maintaining wickets so anyone think that the should be a some sort off recognition by the ncu too groundsmen and i also think the umpires should get free entry too all internationals an cup finals as without them ( good or bad ) cricket is dead without both umpires and groundsmen.
well said bumper and sam. fair play to north down and raymond for working hard and getting 3 games in over 2 days.
Well done to ci today. A lot of critics but it is awesome to see someone like craig mcmillan playing our cricket.
Player of the day...bod mcchesney. Well done mate. A hat trick in 2 balls!!
