Jeff - re Robin and the 1/6 odds. You and I wouldn't be in a position to make much money but with the huge amounts that he would be staking these odds would be worth his while - bit like a man would regularly drinks brandy complaining about the price of drink. Odds are short because all the good teams are out!!

north down buying money ?

vanburn, eastwoods now called ladbrokes usually bet on anything, but why would ROBIN want too bet oods on 1/6 (thats 1£ for every 6 risked for the non punter), not all certs win .HAD 5 football teams too draw sunday &they all did all single bets ,so we try another few man utd , lyon chelsea , 10£ treble pays 300£ & ive been greedy &double up on all 3 halftime & full time draws that gets u GRAND if successful!?ps ROBIN try TAYTO he dont charge TAX but then again u wont get paid if u win.lol

School's Cup
Paddy Power still doing on line betting, not aware of any others still takin bets - Jeff might know????. MCB now 1-6 on favourites. Should have got in guys when it was even money (or thereabouts).
MCB will NOT again play as poorly as they did at Fox's Field on Saturday (fair play though to CCB who really pushed them hard), MCB are a class act and are entitled to one bad game.

vanburn - if methody take the foot of the gas like they did in the second half yesterday Inst could be a good shout for a score at 9/1? Can you get each way in the schools cup?

Jeff
If you count having a son playing for MCB and me watching them play every Sat, then yes I have inside info. MCB had a bad day at the office yesterday, but still won and will remain strong favs to win Cup. Will be interesting to see how the odds change this week, with RBAI putting in a late run.

As you know I am not a major betting man, but i have a few quid on MCB to win School's Cup. Odds 10/11 for MCB a couple of weeks ago, now down to 1/5!!! 2nd favs are RBAI at 9/1. In a 8 horse race have you ever seen such odds with such a difference between favourite and 2nd favourite?

Still think the best 5 players in the "top3" (not my words by the way!!) are better both individually and collectively than the other sides, plus the next 6 are also collectively above what else the other sides have. North Down clearly the best of the best in this regard (all 11 named would be individually capable of taking a place on any of the other Senior sides), but the big 3 are strong all round and will be up there. I will be surprised if they are not 1,2,3 in the league, whatever order that may be.

re: comments on the youngsters: Heaney Jnr.is without any doubt better than his parents (my wife would not profess to be a good cricketer, although in her day she did help make a mean tea!!!), young Beverland has a bit to go but is learning and has the talent, and time will tell about him.
Best Wishes to you and the Grasshoppers in India.

Section 1 looks really close this year (giving it the fancy new title) with a lot of teams having realistic claims to going up into the Premier. Hard to know how strong Cliftonville will be but Derriaghy probably have to start off as favourites. I'm sure that Lurgan and Downpatrick will both hope for better than 2008.

rodney, i think your right about the bet ha ha.

I will tell you about the middle of june what our pro is like, who knows, looks decent on paper and is very keen so fingers crossed.

Yeah neiller will do well at CI , they are looking pretty strong and i wish him and CI all the best for the season.

I dont have a clue how our league will go this year, we will have to see.

I think jeff should lay off you about that bet, credit crunch and all that. What is your pro like, should be good craic this year.

Heard Neil is away to CI, big loss for you but a good move for him no doubt as CI are moving forward. Real big opportunity for him.

Hopefully we can attract a couple of new faces to the club this year as I believe two or three players could make us a mid table side.
