stevie , think last time rangers were in manchester& euro cup final they certainly left the streets of manchester looking like a NIGHTMARE . even if ronaldo leaves the 40million will buy a useful replacement ( i would let him go if he asks for transfer ), think RANGERS /CELTIC would deff give the premiership a boost as scottish football is not challenging them enough . wasnt going too tip horses 2 day but just for you i will NAP DAFAROUN 7PM GOWRAN PARK 4 /1 & ROSES FOR THE LADY 215 CHESTER 7/2

Jeff, We can all hunt for Glory. We all know that if Sky Sports hadn't ploughed the money into the game, man u and the rest of the english teams would still be struggling in Europe, just like the Scottish teams are continuing to.. I suppose apart from Liverpool, who didn't need millions to win 5 European Cups...Being a Rangers Fan is not so much fun in European Competitions. But then again, if Man U was go to out of Europe before the semi's that would be classed as a failure.... So you lot got a lot to lose in the near future, when golden boy goes to Real Madrid....

Chris - sure I will see you at Stormont on Saturday weather permitting and I will buy you a pint. The only point I am trying to make is CI have worked seriously hard, have stuck together even when they had no home ground and they are now in the premier league which should give them the platform to improve their youth system which should make them more self-sufficient in the future. Only time will tell if it is a success but in the meantime a bunch of lads have stuck together through some tought times and have played some good cricket in senior one and played in a senior cup final before that. Fair play to them.

Re- Wayne

Not completely sure that comparing the aspirations of the 11th best International Team in the World with Templepatrick Cricket Club is fair, wouldn't you agree?

I feel you are putting words in my mouth- at no stage in my post did I ever say that I had no ambition of improving or for the club to move on- there is nothing that I would want more but I wouldn't want it to happen the way CIYMS have gone about it. I don't take myself or my cricket too seriously and am more than happy playing a standard that suits my current ability- beats only being allowed to field in Section 1 anyday and you never know maybe some day I'll be able to join you 'world beaters' in Section 1 or 2.

Anyways, so as not to annoy Mr. Ed, I think we should drop the issue and get back to practicing the sun dance for the weekend- maybe then we'll have some cricket to talk about!

Chris - let's hope Warren Deutrom does not adopt the policy of "a sure we are a good bunch of lads and playing a competitive level for our standard of cricket". Irish cricket would be donald ducked then and any prospects of full international status would be gone.

If CI or any club investing in players/pros [which is more than 1 would you believe!] then hopefully the standards set by the quality players will improve those around them and if folk are used correctly then it will also enhance the youth set up and hopefully improve the pipeline of players and ultimate club strength. Maybe that is pipe dream but each committee has there own strategy.

Re. Mark King

Plenty of ambition Mark- just not at all costs- as I have stated I would take no satisfaction in my club paying somebody to bat the majority of the overs and take all the wickers! As long as I am playing what is competitive cricket (which section 3 is by my standards) with some good lads I'm more than happy- if we ever did get playing that is lol!!!

Guys
We've been round the block TWICE now regarding CIYMS, and as much as we appreciate that the payment or non-payment of players is always going to be a hot topic, lets move on to Jeff’s NAPS or something like that for a couple of days…

RE CIYMS

Guys how many times do I have to post this but the 'blank cheque book' you talk about is money raised through hard work by an energetic committee through prize draws, gala dinners, advertising boards, lunches, night at races etc etc and not a sugar daddy as you all allude to.

We are in the fortunate position that the facilities are all modern and we can spend this raised money on furthering the club.

re. CIYMS.

I always found the CI folk as decent lads too, albeit they mostly are in the second team or lower now I would imagine. However, it is all well and good to speak of ambition, but wouldn't everyone be ambitious if they had a virtually blank chequebook to play with!
