50 Over Cricket at County & ODI level is 3hrs 30mins per fielding side - NOT: 3hrs 5mins like in the NCU – the example of/against County Cricket is rubbish, they are Professionals!

re Wayne - admittedly the strike rate was slow but at the same time Larne had set their stall out and had over a half hour left - they moved quickly after each over with no long changeovers during overs for the right-handers and left handers, wicket-keeper changing quickly, it all adds up. I agree that it might take getting used to but if bowlers would get back to their mark quicker at the end of each ball, etc. Watch the way the English county sides move - I believe that it will introduce more mobility into our game.

Wayne

You might get a few more overs this year with this 3hr 5 min rule!

Jeff any punchestown tips?

I think the real pressure on the 3 hr 5min rule will be on the umpires and on being consistent on what deductions are included etc. I can see a lot of deductions for teams that bowl wides or faff about. As highly documented cuplrits of this last year it will be tough. The bowlers off the long runs will have to get their skates on. Andy - Larne;s time was good. If Cregagh had not been scoring at only 2 an over it may have been more impressive. Hardly the leather fetching Taito refers to!

yes andy i agree it is a good idea, it will take a bit of getting used to just. I am sure there will be quite a few penalties this season though.

re Taito and the over rate - larne bowled 46 odd overs in 2hrs 30mins on Saturday. No lengthy debates between overs and players not being moved every 2 or 3 balls. Teams need to be a bit sharper in their team plans and it will work. Better than long para-legal appeals later in the season.

I know there wernt many games on saturday but i was wondering what everyones thoughts are on the new rule reagrding having your overs bowled in 3 hours 5 minutes?

From playing on saturday i can see there being a few games decided this way this season. Laurelvale were penalised 18 runs on saturday but it didnt end up crucial but in a close game this could be the difference between a win and a draw. I know we were running between overs and completing them as fast as we could and were still only 5 minutes inside. It could be very difficult if we are chasing leather around for say a 250 or 260 score.

The logic is certainly correct but i can see a lot of teams struggling to get their overs bowled in time.

Can someone explain the chaos over the Neil Russell 'ban?'
Was there a ban or what?
Has the season started off with another North Down controversy?

NCU site now longer works because cricket europe have stopped being hosts to NCU. Results for Div 1 Sec Prem 1,2&3 can be found on the cricketeurope Ireland site but you won't get lower Divs. Apparently the new site was to be up and running this week however if it is i've yet to find it.
