Re Paul Sayers
It isn't a rumour Paul unfortunately, our original pro, Juan Theron, hasn't been released by his state side, due to fear of injury, both to CI's and his frustrations. However I feel we could have signed an even better pro in Paul Rofe the former Australian A and Northamptonshire player. I am very sure Coops is more than happy with his move...
DUNDRUMS MATCH AT HOME TO DERRAGHY HAS BEEN CALLED OFF
I heard a rumour today that CIYMS's SA pro has pulled out on them - surely this will hamper any aspirations they have off winning anything.
Maybe cooper etc will be sorry they went now!
Having seen 'the pro' in action in many a drinking establishment in the town i would say there is a much higher chance of representing ireland for the drinking eleven. He may he even get a captains role.
All the best to everyone for the new season, hope this rain stays off i have no idea which forecast is right. I think i should take up meteorology since these guys are all getting paid big bucks and are coming up with totally different forecasts for the same day.
Hughesy - I reckon a few females and Ollies may sponsor Ireland if Pro is selected. If only to get Ollies.
Good luck to all for the season ahead. Shame CSN's game has been off for a couple of weeks already. Another season of fixture backlogs beckons!!
Wayne, that sort of call up would curb Colin's Friday night sharking in Ollies!!! I doubt he could give that up, even for Ireland!!!
Top Level Club Pros
I think there is only one Club Pro that should be a getting a cap for Ireland and that is CSN's very own "our pro". Yes lads, get our pro in there to bamboozle a few county players and the next thing you know he will be grabbing a bagful at the world cup!!!
No overseas player for Irelands FP Trophy matches.... surely a shock development?
Id like to see some of the top level club pros getting a game, especially when Morgan, Porterfield, Ranking and maybe the both O'Briens will be missing.
If the guy who was at Lisburn last season was returing he would be explosive at the top of the order!

Most importantly, congratulations to Ireland, a superb effort in the tournament and all credit to big Phil and his people on winning the World Cup qualifier so convincingly. I'm sure a lot of people thought that the bubble might burst when Adrian Birrell left but we have carried on and dare I say it, got even stronger since the glory days of 2007.
But, important also to point out that Scotland didn't go out of the qualifier because of an Irish selection, they went out because in too many matches they just weren't good enough. Compare their top order batting with ours and you will find the reason that we are going to the sub-continent and they aren't.
Have to say what a bunch of whingers some of the Scots are for blaming Ireland for not winning against Kenya and helping their cause. They can't be serious?
Scotland played poorly in this tournament, and punched well below their weight. End of story.
To misquote Lady Bracknell - "To lose one husband could be considered unfortunate, to lose two must surely be carelessness!"
Having lost one Development Manager in Belfast, Cricket Ireland are advertising for a replacement. Not so with the second.
That makes the loss of the Development Officer in the North West seem not just careless, it's criminal!
It was very sad to learn of the passing of Railway Union cricket and hockey stalwart Des Byrne. He was a real gentleman in every sense and a fine ambassador of sport. Des had been in declining health for some time, but still travelled to the Caribbean to support Ireland in 2007 where his close friends at Railway looked after him in the way real friends always do. We'll miss his friendly smile and bubbly personality, but those who knew Des will have a host of good memories of one of the finest wicket-keepers of his era.
Rest in peace dear friend, it was an honour to know you and always a pleasure to be in your company.
