3hrs 5 mins should be enough for 20/20 cricket this year, even CSNI!!!
ref: 3 hr 5 min rule
surely this rule could be open to abuse by the side batting first. There's various forms of time wasting that could hamper the fielding side, backing away not ready as the bowler approaches, changing gloves/bat, fixing pads, needing a drink, moving sightscreens etc. Laurelvale were penalised 18 runs against Downpatrick for slow over rate . If Cliftonville adopt this tactic we'll easily replace JTs runs from last season. Only slagging big man, have a good season.
Looks like we could have a Twenty20 league this year. Are you allowed to play 2 games on one day if the weather looks good?? You could squeeze a full league programme in at Comber some sunday!!
Re the 3 hr 5 min rule, just out of curiousity what happens if the team bowling second is very slow?
may dad jimmy died 8 years ago but everytime i played at woodvale or umpired he always asked me to send his regards to billy dempster. regards to the dempster family

50 Over Cricket at County & ODI level is 3hrs 30mins per fielding side - NOT: 3hrs 5mins like in the NCU – the example of/against County Cricket is rubbish: they are Professionals AS WELL, SO CLEARLY CLUB CRICKETER'S SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTED TO GET THROUGH THEIR OVERS 25 MINUTES QUICKER THAN PROFESSIONALS!!!
Gary: no problem with improving all areas of the game – not my point!
Drew Peacock: your pad is amazing – the photo’s in the toilet of the Gore Cricket Club and you with the Stiff Richard Trophy are something I’ll never forget….. take it slow & easy and I hope to get a touch soon!

good point drew, surely pro teams should be able to bowl their overs quicker than amateurs so why such a strict time scale in our league, although i think 3hrs 15 not 3 30 is long enough.
i remember sitting on these committees at ncu level who were making these rule changes and realising that there were far too many non cricketers making the changes.
ncu i feel badly needs a captains committee where all the captains from each club should meet and take any ideas to their prospective leagues, i believe this happens before the agm in leinster each year.
Danny - kind words re me getting a few more overs this year. However whilst I may have a shorter run up than some of my more esteemed colleagues, the fact that the ball tends to spend most of the time at the other side of the white rope may have a detrimental impact on our over rate!!
No point??
Who are you and why are you sending emails from my house?
DANNY , NAP JY VOLE 640 / JUST SMALL EWAY AFISTFULLDOLLARS 605 / MONTERO 455 / SWEEPS HILL . IM GOIN FRIDAY DANNY & WILL HAVE SOME INFO IN ENG SO TEX ME EARLY FRI
No Point???
the arguement against proffesionalism is rubbish!
every 1st XI team should always be adding proffesionalism to their game and striving to be the best they can be, isnt it these teams were ireland players are picked from??
Andy i agree with you, i do think though a lot of teams will be pushed we really rushed back to our marks and between overs and we wernt that far inside the time. Wayne is right in that it will be interesting to see if all the umpires interpretation or enforcement of the rule will be the same
