Nathan Waller 108 off 109 balls for Sussex 2s. Is this the same guy who has moved from Lisburn to CIYMS?
Muckamore mean business, 3 new signings, pro mess up. The guys who got them up will enjoy the 2nds im sure!
Folks, with just over 2 weeks to the start of the season what fixtures are arranged for this weekend.
Lurgan are going to Phoenix this Saturday with a 1pm start.
I was wondering if any clubs in the north west would be looking for a friendly this saturday the 12th against downpatrick cc at your ground? We are already up that way and have a game on sunday, our saturday fixture fell through. If so drop me an e-mail paultateuk@yahoo.co.uk or 07791270964.
Any more transfer rumours in Section 1 or Premier League?
By contrast the Netherlands not so 'hot' today v Sri Lanka.. 39 all out, dearie me!
The Dawn of a New Season !
As the cricket season draweth near,
the winter doldrums, fast, become small beer
players and officials most revere,
search for crumpled whites and dusty gear
The great fraternity from hibernation reappear,
as an awakening bear, stern and austere
then do imbue each other's speculative ear ,
with various conundrums intended sincere
Their curiosity doth blend and cohere,
like prophets gazing into a crystal sphere
before a ball is bowled cavalier,
or struck back eagerly, without fear!
Will the sun from a blue background adhere
and shine warm, bright and clear?
Which team will lift the cup in cheer,
or sit proudly atop the summit of the premier?
What bowler and which batsman will domineer
and top the averages for this year?
Long into the night shall they persevere,
about the game all so endear!
From common man to noble peer
all must wait patiently to hear,
as father time rows forward at steady steer
in a pearly craft of gilded veneer, like a celestial gondolier!
Indeed let's pray an almighty hand of zenith tier,
shall never bowl a ball to end his career
the consequence of which, would be rather severe
As both you, me and the universe, into a black-hole
would instantaneously, disappear!
The Netherlands were just incredible today and fully deserve to be in the next stage. And as for watching tv only when England lose - I don't have enough time to watch that much tv! But come on guys - humour me - tell me about all the positives about England performances that I and a load of other guys seem to have missed! Suggested reading "the emperor's new clothes"!
Don't hold your breath Van Der Sar, Andy has tunnel vision as far as England are concerned
As I watch Ireland taking a hammering by the Oranjemen, it has taken my mind back to Andy Kennedy's comments on this forum on Englands defeats. It seems that he only watches TV when England lose. I do hope, as an honorary Hollander that he seen our display today.
Andy too busy between textn/facebook but think winning 2000£ over 4 day was excellent last year 2650£ year before 1490£ although backing 6 winners at Dundalk fri night topped up the kitty. Have say Kyle Mccallan is superb on sky t20 coverage so good luck Ireland fancy Kiwis/s Africa . Andy LAY ENG as they no chance
Coaching Certificate in Young People and Adults
Dates for the Course are:
Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd April
Friday 2nd May
Monday 26th May
Venue: Muckamore Cricket Club
Cost: £235 per person
Cricket Ireland has agreed to deliver a Coaching Certificate in Young People and Adults course (superseded the former ECB Level Two) in April/May 2014. This has been predominantly arranged to assist clubs who are contracting overseas players for the 2014 season to successfully achieve their qualification in line with the existing Governing Body Endorsement criteria.
However both the NW and NCU would encourage all clubs to maximise attendance at this course by nominating additional individuals and this should be done by emailing Stephen Moreton at stephen.moreton@cricketireland.ie. The maximum number able to attend the course will be 24 and names will be taken on a first come first served basis.
Sad to hear of the passing of Sam McConnell (Sen) a real stalwart of North-West cricket. "Mr. Bready" shifted mountains for his beloved club and was always a warm and friendly host. He was also a popular umpire, and strong supporter of his union, but they always played second fiddle to Bready Cricket Club, his pride and joy. A huge part of his legacy will be the impressive Bready set-up he has helped build over the last two decades.
Sincere condolences to all the McConnell family and the Bready cricket community on the loss of a great club icon.

Yes Ivan, Remember the occasion well but maybe not 1986 as that was the year Fredie Ashton scored the century and we went to Headingly. Meeting Jimmy was one of several great trips we had with the Grasshoppers and Ireland. I'm sure there are a few photos of Jimmy in the UC archives and you have a full set. He also wrote a lovely poem about Sir Harry Secombe that we published in 1988.
