Gilly,no offence taken just a bit of banter to keep the forum going as you say, sometimes it gets too serious and Vic always has something silly to say or is putting his size 12,s in it, but its all good fun, all the best to Muckamore for the season ahead, we at Victoria are just looking for a few more wins and get this 3rd team up and running.
Gregory, Vic and anyone else connected to Victoria C.C. The post I made was not in anyway a dig at Victoric C.C, it was a dig at everyone who usually posts on this forum but have been hiding.usually at this time of year so close to the season the forum is a hive of activity. So fair play to Vic, yourself, etc for keeping the forum going.
I'm not sure how many 'sweetie men' are around the umpiring fraternity these days but it seems a good time to remember the doyen of sweetie-givers, the late great Peter Reith. Pete was a rare gem and one of the most popular umpires of our time. After all, there can't be many matches that started late because the umpire was on the stage in the clubhouse singing "Sweet Georgie Brown" when he should have been at the wicket. The Sunday Jazz sessions at Ormeau weren't good for timely starts to senior league games!
As for strange men offering you sweets Andy, I'm sure they were frightened you'd grab the bag!
just to clarify about the "sweets" - was always warned by my mother about strange men offering me sweets! Never saw too many coming my way from the gentleman concerned but Alan Neill always eats mine but never brings his own. And I have a great story about sweets and the late great Bill McLaren that I'll tell forumites only when I meet them during the season. There haven't been too many sweet-eaters round Muckamore this winter but the weight loss programme (not that I was in it) has certainly made a difference.
Anyone wanting a good night out with a difference is invited to support Muckamore's "Gangster Pursuit " evening next Thursday 4th March in Moe's Grill , Junction One, Antrim starting at 8pm. Tickets including Chinese Buffet and ending with Karaoke are available from Moe's Grill at £15 each.
" Gangster's Pursuit " is best described as a Night at the Races without the horses. No wisecracks about it being an apt name for a Muckamore fund raising evening please.
Hi Vic , i see some people are complaining about you hogging the forum tell them to get stuffed, i told you before if you don,t wear the right school tie or your from section 4 you don,t count, carry on Vic we love the banter this is the only place were people like you can air smaller clubs views, no one complains about the other site being mostly [95%]about NW cricket !!
everybody knows Vic Jons what a guy !!
Ground will hopefully be ready around the end of June although we wont be able to play on any of the 6 new tracks until next season.yes Andy has did a great job getting that grant, hes a great coach and is very professional in everything he does.Ballymena would be are big derby match but Templepatrick only play up the road in Ballyclare and i can see us playing them in a few years, as you say they have some great young players.
Thanks Vic,I'm practising quite a lot. I can't wait until the new season and hopefully this year we will get a "barbecue" summer!
A sign of the times Gilly... Victoria are becoming a rising force in the NCU!
Cliftonville held a fund raiser on Saturday night with the money going towards an Overseas player , but after the sixth or seventh drink we decided to ditch the Pro and have booked a bus and an Emergency medical team for our away fixture to Dundrum. Roll on July.
P.s. Jeff, David Munn is under strict instructions to bat second, in order to help us avoid alcohol poisoning.
Gilly bet accepted but too give your outstanding strong line up a chance do want 2 pints home an away lol. Also not sure the last time Rod sent Noel out too open wether he was seeing you off or you keeping him in? .Tell you this he gives umpires sweets also maybe thats why he got so many front foot lbw but Andy Kennedy and the rest will say they cant be bought? but on a cold day boiled sweets can get the FINGER out the pocket . When you think your square be ready? Fair play Andy McCrea & Templepatrick on there 85000£ ground improvements as they have some the best young well coached prospects in NCU cricket
Yes Jeff i owe you 4 pints but the bet is double or quits on Dundrum v Muckamore.i here Downpatrick are losing a few players to work commitments, Tayto being one of them.you have to make sure Noel keeps playing, i'd miss the sweets he hands out when hes at the non - striker and iam walking back to my mark, always has a pocketful of hard boiled sweets lol the guy is a legend!
Gilly . lot of lovely grounds in all sections have too say i love moylena an the walk round ground with nice pint me and big Andy Clement talking the walk god do i love cricket its a sport that gives us so much fun & memories but most off all FRIENDS FOR LIFE . ps think u still owe me 4 pints but unlike TAYTO u an me pay our bets!
Jeff this no drinking will have to go out the window when Muckamore visit the beautiful Dundrum this season.iav no doubt u's will stay up this year, would be a shame for the league because it really is a brilliant place to play cricket and we always get well looked after in the Dundrum Inn after the match.
Davey,
Keep practicing and maybe you'll get on the team and good to see a young fella so keen about cricket & his club.
(Better get off the air-ways now, would'nt want to keep anyone else off the site!)
