it is with sadness that I read Simon's posting. I played rugby with both Phil & Roger at Civil Service in the early 70s - Jean & I send our sympathy
Very sad news Simon.
Phillip was a lovely person and I have great memories of working with him and of course playing cricket with and against him. He was a true sportsman in every sense, and always the voice of reason. There wasn't an ounce of badness in him. Just a genuine lovely guy who was a pleasure to know.
Rest in peace dear friend.
It is with great sadness I have to relate that one of the founding Grasshoppers, Philip Nixon, passed away this morning. He was a wonderful team-mate and friend of all at NICC, and will be sorely missed.
has laurelvale signed any players this year? is armagh bring charu back?
Yep Craig what about ye? How your grandad doing?
Greg,I hope you and the rest of the team give a good account of yourselves whilst on tour in Scotland. Show 'the jocks' what the Co.Armagh men are made off!
But you must remember!! Gerald will not be there to do his usual bit of 'coaching' during the game, which includes 'ate'n the bake of you', when you bowl to short and I will not be there to catch the ball on the line whilst on its way for another 'SIX'!!!
Is that davey gilpin as in the 14 year old?
Well Vic,LPR & Mr Streat indoor practice has started ,hope you all can make it next week ?? There was a good turn out with another couple of new faces both young fellows which is very good to see and one of them was called Johnston [not another one !!!]and the Maralin Ducks were also in attendance.By the way Vic have not enough browny points saved so you can go on the tour of Scotland ??? Thanks to Billy Basher for confirming our game at the Lawn , Vic maybe Andy K could umpire and you might get a couple of LBW'S.
Wow! Thats a big loss for our seconds. He was a decent medium-fast bowler and was devoloping his batting. Whats your name Waring?
unfortunately waringstown 2nds have also lost stu kidd to milpark so that will be a big lost to the 2nds.
Thanks for that update Waring. Did not know Ben was not coming back. He is a talented player. Its a shame because he was a decent all rounder although he will probably get first team cricket with Lurgan.
Yes indeed Andy,we really are playing our namesakes over in 'bonny' Scotland on a short pre-season tour, although sadly neither our 'Pro' nor myself can make the trip. What a coincidense you bumping into their team and as I've said, glad you put the 'frightners' on them already !!!
On a seperate note, just watching the Bangladesh-v-England ODI. The two South-African 'Englishmen' have failed with the bat,but the Irish 'Englishman' is going well, very strong playing across the line!!!!
Funny enough, when I look at the Bangladesh team, I can't seem to pick out any South African or Irish 'Bangladeshians'!!!!!
Vic - so I wasn't all that tired & emotional - you guys really are touring in the Glasgow area. I should point out that the guys I was talking to were "rockets" so you will clearly have a ball
I had heard that lurgan pro was coming back. They have also signed Ben McKnight from Waringstown 2ths.
Dundrum is without doubt one of the highlights of the season. However, the bowling of Vic Jons did give me a creak in my neck!! Was worried someone was going to drown fetching the ball after some of his deliveries!
