while I have no direct knowledge of the inner workings of the Muckamore club I can inform Gary that there is a strong rumour that the Glazer brothers are major investors in a similar deal as with Man Utd. In return for Muckamore lending them the money to buy the club the Glazers have only to be paid £2000 a week for the priviledge of buying Moylena.
Gary - I feel like I have just won the lottery going back to Muckamore. I have just retired from my job and bought a little pad in the caribbean!
Muckamore C.C. seems to be the centre of the universe at the present time! Maybe they've signed Sachin Tendulkar as well!!
Fill us in chaps! What's going on up there??
Have Muckamore come into a little bit of money then to entice Horwood & Baguely back along with Coetzee?? Fair play to them if they have, as there isn't much wrong with their facilities and youth structure...
Ryan - sitting on the fence with both ears to the ground is a very vulnerable position. BTW - the "Ulster" to which I referred was the group of guys from BT6 currently receiving money under false pretences of being a rugby team!
RE: All the interest in who Muckamore have signed.
Seen as there seems to be so much interest in our small club, please feel free to attend our indoor training on a Tueday evening between 18:30 and 21:30 at Antrim Grammar School.
Anyone regardless of ability is welcome to come and train and enjoy a game of cricket.
There are no gates at Moylena.
Looks like I'm not going to get an answer as to why a first class cricketer, can't play at any level he chooses to in this country, providing he has retired from same,is legitimately living here and gainfully employed unconnected to cricket??
Seems a trifle unfair to me! I'm pretty sure that if the situation was reversed and Gerald and I were to set up a cafe in downtown Bombay Street India, selling 'Ulster Fry's' to the locals, we would have no problem joining any cricket team in their country!
But there you go,maybe I don't know that much about cricket, afterall!!
BTW: An Indian take-away would do very well in Moira Co.Down/Armagh, and hopefully somebody will start one up soon and they can sponsor my 'posts'!
has anyone in section 2 signed any player hear muckamore have signed a few
has muckamore signed amymore players?
Not like you andy to "sit on the fence" are you entering the political arena in 2010?
Is it a good or a bad thing?
I'm not going to start that debate again Ryan - see previous postings on the dearth of club cricket in NCU. There could be a comparison with the situation in club-v- Provincial rugby but Ulster are so cr** as well.
Hello Vic , yes i might have got hit a bit [better chance of a catch] but with all your winter practice i don't see much improvement!! you were bowling wide ,very wide & extra very wide maybe you were thinking that you were still outside an allowing for a stiff breeze or something who knows and yes it was great to see a good turn out , Robbie Streat hasn't turned up yet with his new well oiled bat maybe next week ?? by the way have you got your browny points sorted out yet ???? This post is sponsered by The Golden Harvest Chinese,Lurgan !!!
Indian names aren't that easy to pronounce let alone spell and anyway, I still don't know why he could'nt play for any team he wanted to,providing he had retired from first class cricket!
What's the problem anyhow?
Anyway great turn out at our second indoor nets Monday past, many new young faces present, all keen as 'beavers' and rar'en to go!!
Tried to give a bit of coaching to those that required it,but some of the more 'senior' players, still will not learn to keep the ball 'Pitched-up' on a good length!!!! (Mr. Mullin).
Just to clarify the situation in the LCU now. Clubs are still allowed one overseas pro. In addition, anyone holding an Irish or EU passport and not receiving remuneration from cricket is entitled to play (difficult one to police!) However, people who are not entitled to work in Ireland by virtue of being EU passport holders (ie: Working holidaymakers etc) will as I understand it, no longer be entitled to play senior cricket. Could be some big scores in junior matches!
Andy...
Is that a bad thing for Irish Cricket then?
