RE:Davey Gilpin Post....
I agree with you regards CIYMS...on paper they do indeed look very strong.
Though im sure "Hughes and Co" would be the first to remind you that everyone was saying the same thing last year when they signed Paul Rofe and Thinus Fourie to add too Coops,Neil Gelston and a couple others...and look were they ended up at the end off the season!Im sure Hughesy was tearing his hair out come July!!
Id say the aim is to keep everyone happy and settled that arrives and to pray for no call up's from elsewhere as tends to happen to players of the calibre of McMillan.
I for one wish CIYMS all the best for the forthcoming season.
can anyone confirm paul mccrum will be in the country for the 2010 season? reports suggest he will be abroad and not in action - if true a real legend will be no more in irish cricket - the end of a few glorious decades in which the big man was exceptional and without doubt one of the most influential cricketers to ever grace a cricket field?
Re Vic.
That two-nighter in June is the sort of fixture that I'm sure every player aspires to be involved in, but I can't imagine that I will make the cut.
Money don't mak'eth a man, Davey lad!!!
I see Derrighy have got a professional called Antonio Mullins and Ciyms have got somebody call Ben McCord. http://www.cricx.com/viewclient.aspx?ClientID=601&PlayerAvailabilityID=2
Ciyms are going to be some team this year!
Gareth, don't fret, you'll see plenty of speed & fire-power down at 'the mall' on 22nd/23rd June when our 2nd string take on Armagh 2's.
Will you make the team or do you still play with Armagh 4th's ?
Dunno about the merits of a trip to Junction 1, but I would love to see a few lads figures on the speed gun, i definitely reckon it would lead to some lively debate!
Good of the PSNI to loan Muckamore their hairdryer :D
I also agree with Ryan, 'hats off' to the two Andys from cricket development & Muckamore C.C. respectively.
Very innovative and pro-active thinking, bringing cricket out onto the streets into the public eye and encouraging them to get involved.
We should get up to Junction-one sometime over the Easter weekend,Mrs.'Jons' can do a bit of shopping and the boys and I can play cricket at the same time; brilliant!
Hope that speed gun will be there!!
re earlier postings about the performance of England - takes 5 days to beat Bangladesh and the English media have them as World Cup contenders! At least its not all bad - the English press seem to have (at long last) got the rose-tinted specs off about the "progress" in English rugby. Also an interesting posting on the Cricket Scotland forum re "foreign" players.

Ivan...
Sounds like a fantastic opportunity at Junction One. Hope you have got the guys in the cricket office involved?? and indeed the local council.
Neil, yes there has been work on the drainage between the pitches and towards the clubhouse end. I dont know a great deal about it im sure big gav or ivan could fill you in.
With all the news coming out of Muckamore this winter about new players, new clay pitches being laid, new practice facilities, winter training I think THE biggest story is that Andy Clement and Andy McCulloch have negotiated with Junction One Shopping Centre to hold Northern Ireland's first ever cricket fun weekend FOR ALL in an empty unit at the centre.
With 80,000 visitors to Junction One from Good Friday to Easter Tuesday they hope to get thousands of people to take part in bowling, batting and throwing competitions.
This fun event will hopefully raise awareness of cricket and the Muckamore club locally in Antrim but also all over Northern Ireland as Junction One gets visitors from far and wide.
More details of the exact format will be posted later but it will operate from 11am to 5 pm for 4 days and we would hope to get at least one thousand people a day joining in the fun. Prizes will be available so why not come along and join the fun.It is hoped to have a speed gun available to see who can really bowl quick.
The new crazy golf facility at Junction One also opens that weekend so now there really is a shopping centre for all the family.
