Just stumbled upon Woodvale's new website, well worth having a look at. Very well designed, easy to use and looks looks like it's going to have a lot of content worth checking out. Good luck with keeping it going, a lot of clubs would be delighted to get a site like that up and running

Turk - that innings from Dros was one of the most awesome bits of striking I have witnessed. 170 odd and he only got in the over after drinks ! Most of the numerous 6's he hit that day should have counted 10. The monster you referred to was a 12 - I was at long-on and it cleared me by miles. Tremendous stuff.

Delighted to see Woodvale's new website up and running.
I know there's a lot more to come from it. However even in it's early form, I must say I'm very impressed. Really look forward to future articles and updates.
Big shout out to Rodney, Scotty and Paul
Well done lads...

Looking back on my Cliftonville days have to say that Neiller struck a ball as cleanly as anyone around & when i moved to North Down watched my big mate Russeller & Ryan smash bowlers effortlessly over the boundary rope.
However, one six that we always talked about at the 'Ville was the one Drossy (Gerald Dros) smashed against Lisburn one Sunday. Not only did it clear the boundary hedge but think it actually ended up in Mossley Mill!!!

I noticed that too Ranger ,but I suppose I shall adapt as you can see !

Great to have our own Victoria C.C.web-site up and almost running, well done to 'Aussie' Dave from our club for his efforts in getting it altogether and of course to have my own 'Vic Johns' section on it as well... fantastic!

Fame at long last, this could be the start of something big, my own reality T.V.show maybe...."What Vic did next"!!!

take a look at the Csn batting line up for big hitters. Barney hits the ball as sweet as anyone I have ever seen. Westy is like a caveman going to wack you with his big club when he is in the zone. You cannot bowl to him. Oh and for good measure jonesy is as clean a striker in the mid wicket mid on area as you will see.
I felt like bod mcchesney batting amongst these lads!! And me old mucker dyer gives it a brave slap. Still remember his ton at comber in 08. Sheer genius.

Big Hitters debate

Gavin from downpatrick is a big hitter of a ball as is Peter Hanna of Waringstown, though for me the biggest/hardest hitter on his day in NCU is Neil Russell of North Down. A very destructive batsman on a good deck.

Ryan Haire and Derek Heasley are also massive hitters of a cricket ball.

"Big Hitters"
Furthest we ever saw the Russeller hit it was 2nd slip (only joking big guy), but I wud nearly stake a few quid with Jeff that the King of Bling will be the 1st in the NCU to use a Mongoose!!

I can recall playing a game for Wesley Ferris' Leps against an LCU select at Pembroke. Hendy Wallace, who was captaining, and 2 other West Indians were having a good laugh (and a bet i think) that any of them could hit a 6 of their 1st ball. Hendy failed by inches of his 1st ball but the 3rd ball he faced flew over the fence at the bottom of the ground beside the pavillion and some young fella had to go round on his bike to fetch it!!!

I would imagine a couple of grounds around the Union might have suffered a wee setback in their pre-season preparations this afternoon? What is going on with the weather in this country!

I wouldn't consider myself a big hitter. Merely a stroke player!

Notice our website (www.victoriacricketclub.co.uk) is making good progress. They seem to have spelt your name wrong Vic...

Well Park-ranger, what about the ones who occasionally just hit the ball; but more occasionally miss it completely!

Which bracket do you fall under??

re big hitters:

I have to say jim patterson hit the ball as hard as anyone i have played with or against, especially straight and through extra cover.

Big gavin ringland hits a huge ball, russeller hits them pretty big aswell.

Davy Napier hit the biggest 6 I've seen - he hit Colin Magowan onto the top of the stand at ormeau.( The face of the stand was 100 yards from the edge of the square.)
