It has come to my attention that Henry Olonga, the former Zimbabwe international cricketer, is being interviewed during the service at Newtownbreda Baptist Church on the 11th April. I believe he will be discussing cricket, his faith and his life and career in the context of Mugabe's leadership.
I am planning to go so if anyone would be interested in joining me let me know by email. The service starts at 7pm next Sunday evening.
Best wishes,
Robert
REF: Muckamore at Junction One
Rumour has it that Vic Johns let a cricket ball go at 70mph, unfortunately the ball fell out the window of his car on the M1 between Moira and Antrim.
I was just thinking today has been a pretty crap day as a man u fan. drogba scores when offside, chelsea win at old trafford, arsenal nip another late winner and city are actually doing well.
Then I thought imagine if you were a burnley fan. Now that would be turd. You have won once since halloween, were 5-0 down and are staring down the barrell of relegation.
Alas I do not know any burnley fans...then I remembered....roger bell is a fan and unless I am mistaken were you at the game today??
If so, your day has been worse than mine on the sporting front!!
I have signed up for the Lisburn 10k in aid of Laureus Sport For Good Foundation on 16th June this year, aiming to riase £500 and a time of 45 mins as its first ever 10k race. Any donations will be widely appreciated, quick and easy to donate at http://www.justgiving.com/josh-hall.

Just an update on the Muckamore Cricket Factory at Junction One which started today and is open again on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
Great to see the smiles on the faces of youngsters who were being introduced to cricket for the first time. Also great to see over twenty club members there to help out and add to the fun.
Also a big thanks to Ryan Eagleson and Tim Simmorite for lending support today.
I can see this becoming an annual event and another piece of the plan to make Muckamore a force in Irish cricket.
it would be awesome to see hamish marshall play for ireland. Great player to watch. Was in bristol to see marshall and fleming destroy england a few years ago and it was great to watch.
At 31 he has a few good years in him yet and can only be constructive for the progress of ireland on the world stage.
Was reading an interesting article regarding an interview with a former Irish professional club player called Hendy Wallace, from the West-Indies.
He thoroughly enjoyed his time playing here for N/West & Leinster clubs in the 80's and he must have been a big hitter himself of a cricket ball,as he states he holds an as yet unbroken record of hitting seven sixes in an over!
He also commends the great improvement of Irelands fortunes these recent years, although he is not surprised as the talent was always there.
Favorite Irish player was Decker Currey, who as a 17yr.old was adjudged by 'SOME',to be a non-runner back then,as he played across the line too much! a bit like Viv Richards!!
And me too!
James move with the times...
This can only serve to help the cause especially if Hamish is paid to assist / lead with under-age development work.
Hamish Marshall to play for Ireland - I'm pretty sure it was not so long ago the powers that be said they would only consider overseas players who had settled here in Ireland...
I will never forget Ijaz Ahmed's 147 not out from 67 ball against Cliftonville 2 years ago in a 40 over match for Waringstown. 13 fours and 10 sixes I think he hit.
I recall seeing Dros in the Civil Service anniversary game doing a wild bit of tonking into what is now the carpark on the city side at Stormont - as for big hits - Everton Mattis playing for North Fermanagh against Ballymena in a Sunday game at St. Patrick's Barracks pinged one about 2/3rds up the wall of the assault course that was at least 90 yards from the middle. 5x6s and 10x4s in an innings of 74 n.o.
Robert Black, are you the same guy that plays at are club ? If so we now have our own web-site incase you weren't aware !!
On the weather. It's a bit of a set back alright for groundmen etc. But I would'nt be too pessimistic!
I said the other week that this cold snap was on it's way,but it's better to get it out of the way now and hopefully it will take up soon enough.
We have had three previous mild winters followed by three 'soggey' summers, in contrast to this very cold winter, so I predict it's going to be a hot,dry summer.
That's my long range forcast anyway!
Turk - thanks for reminding me, that six was off me! Our biggest mistake that day was to run Kyle out in about the 27th over, we had restricted you to 80-0 at that stage (a poker at one end ;-)
I had bowled 6 overs for 9 at the start and was handed the ball just as Drosser was hitting full stride. My final figures were 8-2-46-0 before my sympathetic skipper tried someone else (I think that monster 6 helped!)
But the funniest moment during the hour and a half of carnage was when Neil "The Noo" McDowell bowled Drosser a yorker which he hit into the ground and back to him. The Noo thought it was a c&b and hurled the ball a mile in the air, gave it a huge "Cmon" and started giving Drosser a send-off. Gerald simply ambled through for a single. Marvellous.
Folks
Our friendly organised for the 17th of April has fallen through. Anybody out there interested in either the 17th or 18th?? We would need to travel as our ground and pavilion will still be undergoing some work. I'm on 00353872584419 if so.
Did anyone else hear about the new cricket club being formed in East Down? I interested in playing this game and was wondering if indeed it is true that they are playing somewhere between Strangford and Portaferry?
