I dont think staffy was having a go or sticking the boot in to cliftonville at all i think he was just stating how it was sad to see a club who had been winning championships not so long ago being bowled out for 10.
Davy i know cliftonville have competed in both games against us this year and there certainly is some promise there and who knows if a few of the guys game back previous glories might not be that far around the corner.
Dundrums bowling attack as i have said before is one of the best in that league especially at "the meadow" where they obviously know how to get the most out the pitches down there.
Dont think its right to stick the boot into Cliftonville after yesterdays debacle, granted it was a shocking, one off result but the fact they even still remain in existance and are proving competitive in Section 1 is cause for celebration in my book
REF: Paul Stafford
Don't worry Paul , Cliftonville are still a fine club, very few clubs could survive the loss of two homes never mind one. We lost the services of Brian Anderson, Johnny Terrett, Gareth McKee and the Stirling brothers from last years side and barring yesterday we have remained competitive in all Senior One fixtures this season . One more win should secure our senior status for another year.
We took yesterdays result on the chin , got well oiled in the Dundrum Inn and on leaving after midnight were already plotting our response in the weeks to come.
Cliftonville are a fine club, We've come through adversity before , rebuilt the club, and won Senior leagues, we'll do it again.
Cliftonville all out for ten. Sad days for a once fine club.
taito. i also told you that you owe me 40£ but you never reply , cliftonville were very unlucky as on given day teams can have a BAD DAY if they had held few catches we might have got 80 instead off 179 & would they would have got it sumtimes cricket is a funny old game as we were 43 for 4 gave few chances i would have bet ANYONE BUT YOU 40£ we were dead & buried + i know that Cliftonville are a good side + i wont be surprised that they beat us easy at mallusk.ill give them one thing they have great morale in their club as they lost their some best players + lost their ground + they have nothing but ADMIRATION from Dundrum cricket club for the way they play the game but as always sumtime you JUST HAVE TOO PAY UP WHEN YOU LOSE.ps i wet to chinese after 10 batsmen not scoring i just had too order DUCK .
Jamie Matthews
Well done indeed. I have seen a fair bit of Jamie over the last few years and was present to see him keep wicket for Ulster School's last week at Richmond, North Yorkshire, where he did a really good job. His batting and keeping have come a long way over the past two years. He obviously got his talent from the mother's side! (only joking Neale)
Just heard from Jeff that Dundrum have bowled Cliftonville out for 10, yes 10 today. Surely must be the lowest senior total ever??
Rare achievement at CSNI on Saturday when Waringstown seconds keeper, Jamie Matthews, took 5 stumpings in the second innings, following an unbeaten ton in the first. Can't have happened very often.
Donemana is the greatest ever place to play cricket...
Cheers Clarence (2010 indeed)...
Would be a great tour to put together.
Taito : I thought it would have made sense. If you threw your bat and did not get banned and the other gentleman got banned for something similar then clearly his actions must have been considerably worse. Or maybe the umpires have been inconsistent in their disciplinary measures which is why i mentioned about it being interesting to see what happens the next time someone is highlighted for such an incident. Do they discipline according to the other gentlemans actions or to yours. Time will tell.
Ricki: what makes you say the incident must have been much worse? As i have stated before on here yes i threw my bat i didnt take any chairs out or anything worse.
I agree with the statements about consistency and realise that there still could be some form of punishemnt. As far as i see it though it is a level 1 offence for which the punishments are a repramand or written warning.
As I understand it, one of the tenets of the Spirit of Cricket is that captains are responsible for discipline of their players on the field. Is this being applied ?
Re : Michael (Muckamore)
I would have to say that i would definately agree with you in that there must be a consistency when carrying out disciplinary measures. Surely all rules are there for a reason and i certainly hope that they are not all left to the umpires 'discretion' otherwise how are players to know what they can or cannot get away with?! It is extremely unfortunate that your player was banned for 4 matches for throwing his bat where as the Downpatrick player seems to have gotten away with an apology?!. The incident you spoke about must have been much worse than the Downpatrick player throwing his bat from around 30 yards from the boundary line whilst taking out several chairs at the sideline???. The point i am making is that it will be extremely interesting to see what action is taken against the next person who carries out such an act as players are (depending on the day / umpires attending)able to get away with it when followed with a simple 'i'm sorry'. Remember cricket is a sport where many people take their children along to enjoy a day out. Surely unions must not be seen to condone such a public display of poor behaviour?
by coincidince was reading Clarence's article on the launch of the 20/20 competition in Windies just before listening to CMJ and Tony Crozier talking on TMS (much better watching with the sound turned off and the radio commentary than listening to David Lloyd wittering on) about the problems that Hiler amplifies. Crozier was expressing his fears for the future of WI cricket and of course Mr. Stanford was mentioned. If they play what they refer to their 2nd XI then Ireland has a chance.
