many thanks, Jeff for your kind words and support, I have to give credit to Waringstown for their fighting spirit in coming back from 67-8 on Saturday to post 156 and again tonight from 60-0 to make it very difficult for ourselves.
Trust all is well down in Dundrum established section 1 side now

Re Rodney.

If you think that is how a team would celebrate winning a league then you must be as starved of success as we have been! Any future Armagh v Dundrum clashes will probably mean more to you than they will to us because its your lads who keep talking about them!

Have to say I echo Jeffs thoughts on turning up for the game at Armagh last year. I'd say if North Down were playing on the last available date of the season to win the league (or in our case stay up) and the weather seemed ok to play, they would travel to the opposition ground even if the opposition had called the game off. Low and behold when we turned up the ground was in no worse a condition than what Dundrum play on every week. I haven't really spoke about us staying up last year on the forums but the highlight of my year was thinking back to the Armagh players celebrating our relegation as if they'd won the league and then it becoming apparent that we'd actually stayed up! Priceless!

As you say Jeff, the games next year will be tasty but, as chipper from Downpatrick would say, it all adds to the occasion. A bit of healthy banter makes the cricket more exciting as long as it doesnt go overboard!

Taito
if clubs are tied at top or bottom then the final standings are worked out on the seasons Nett Run Rate. This is for all Divison 1 only. In Divisons 2 & 3 then its decided on last years league position.

Jeff thanks, yeah big gav and ivan put in some serious hours to get the place playable. It was a good decision to hang about in the end. It was a good game of cricket, of course good to win a local derby again.

Not quite two wins away, depends who wins between us and Derriaghy at the weekend. If we win we just need another one win, if they win we would need another three possibly. If teams are tied on points it does it go to a playoff am i correct in that?

big davy well done from all at dundrum cc + good too see academy in a strong position to win the junior cup final at lisburn tonight, last but not least downpatrick were worthy winners on sat in a keenly contested win over dundrum and 2 wins away from getting back in the top league and when you see the work that gavin ringland & ivan reid does the strangford road ground is as good if not the best in the north. ps why have australia been backed from 170/1 to 65/1 last night is the english team backing them .lol surely only england win or draw possible??

My once fine club Cliftonville made it through to the Final of the Ulster Shield today. St Johnston made 134 and We were 60-2 chasing when rain caused an abandonment . We won by bowl out 2-1. A bit of good news for a change!!!

Nice story there from "still makes me laugh" if thats even your real name.... unfortunately though not true.

The guy in question took the hump when he was dropped down the order in the last few overs when Armagh were having a hit and disappeared briefly and therefore Armagh fielded with 10. And did NOT ask for a sub.

If your going to make incorrect posts at least put your name on.

Interested reading from Armagh regarding sub fielders. This is not the first time when a request for a sub fielder was turned down, I recall a request from Armagh for a sub fielder a few years ago which was declined. Reason:- Person was annoyed at being dropped down the batting order and refused to field. Later turned up too watch his former playing members struggle in the field drinking a pint and eating a fish supper much to the annoyance of an Armagh legend!

Great to see such sportsmanship from the England camp allowing Australia to "sub" the unfortunately injured Haddin for Manou.

Encouraging to see such a gesture at the very top level of the game.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR PLAYING !

31st Jul 2009

ryan , if you read all the posts i was using the game at THE MALL only as a comparsion as it proved that any club can chose to travel if they want too and im on record as saying in my opinion Dundrum should have given a sub but i wasnt playing so why would they listen too me .ps im glad we travelled as theirs NO SUBSTITUTE for playing & winning .pps think it will be quite tasty home & away next year if both teams travel.

Jeff..... yet again you bring this issue up about the end of last season at the Mall. We dont discuss the sub fielder issue at the Meadow any longer now do we....

Hope theres no mistakes in the scorebook this year.
