TOO BET OR NOT TO BET?

13th Aug 2009

robin if i gave evens north down think even the waringstown faithful would be looking too get on lol. but tell you what ill do as i havent seen yous this year apart from 8 overs as my source is very confident on comber getting the job done if you give me 2/1 instonians ill have 20£ on them which really if you think about it if i win means it just costs you extra 20£ + if inst win ill buy you at least 3 pints pints to possibly drown the sorrows? .

i think that the teams for ANY cup final should be picked on the basis of their performances and also on how the team is best balanced. i dont think anyone should be picked on sentimental value or for who they are. it will be interesting to see who is picked as there is quite a bit of competition in the North Down ranks but Inst is more straightforward

Would the player who has supposedly been selected ahead of a young gun previously played in Senior Cup final for Inst?
Best of luck to both teams for the final.

Re Andy Kennedy

All will become clear tomoorrow, if not before.

(and NO, I am not "concerned fellow cricketer" as any who know me will attest, but I do share the disappointment for the young man in question)

Robin - you will be pleased to know the rule about bowl outs only applies up to the semi finals of cup competitions. A final cant be decided by that method.

weather forecasters rarely right= bq summer

12th Aug 2009

Robin was actually speaking too someone who has seen both teams in action today and he said that North Down have the bowling & the batsmen to destroy any team so i said what price he said North Down 2/5 Instonians 2/1 .personally i think it might be a tight game and if anyone out there wanted to lay me 3/1 ( apart from tayto) im willing to stick 20£ on Instonians? they did as expected completely outplay my beloved Dundrum but as every one loves the UNDERDOGS .ps will waringstown travel to support the favs?

jeff im sure i can manage a pint no worries. Although it might have to wait until next friday by the looks of the forecast. Lets hope it changes a few times before friday but pretty much every forecast is terrible at the minute.

Should be a good day and crowd if the weather is good

Vic Jons,

Thanks for your kind words. We have always enjoyed playing Victoria and have had some good tussles over the years. Namely Jackie Denver's solid defensive stroke...It was always a tradition that whenever we played you guys in Lurgan that you took us back to the club in Lurgan for a few pints. Nowadays, your guys seem to want to come to Dundrum and enjoy a few - cant think why! I didn't make it for a drink on sat after match as Davy (your opening bowler) mentioned that you were heading for Newcastle for a bevvy instead...maybe he didn't want to buy me a drink lol...
