Andy are you stupid ? Just accept the fact that England won & forget about all this ranting & whinging of what was said by this one & that one, be gracious in defeat !!! just say well done England ! is it that hard ?? Hope you have a nice day at Comber maybe i will see you there !!
Is that not 'dyslexically' Andy or are you suffering from dyspraxia.
Leading on from your comments. I think Ireland should press for ODI's in England, test themselves against good opposition on good tracks as a unit. Okay some players are already playing there regularly but as a whole, I think they could benefit from touring England with the county players in their ranks.
to "English contingent" Please accept my sympathy - cricket is, like all things, to be taken in perspective when set against more serious matters. The point that I was making was that Mr. Collingwood and his 2nd string team were, as a guest, less than gracious in their comments and the article in Cricket Europe, to me, summed it up. It is interesting to note that when Australia played Scotland the next day this was the 30th-odd time that this fixture has taken place. England, on the other hand, have play Scotland once. I recall Mark Taylor's side playing at Eglinton some years ago shortly after a Test match and they broughtover an almost full side. Perhaps we would like England a bit more if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot so often.
As for "Gerry" - don't understand that point that he's trying to make - seems to be the only guy I know who can write dyslexic!
I,m still here Vic just wondering why Andy likes mm,s i thought he would be more of a smarty man himself !i don,t know what this boy Ger & Andy expected from the Winning English captain as he probably learned it all from the master "Mr Ponting" as i don,t expect Davey to congratulate Lurgan on there promotion !!!
Andy, haven't been online for a while as I had a death in family in England when I was over for the weekend.
Just to get my point across. If Collingwood thought the ground/pitch whatever wasn't up to standard, then I think he is more qualified than both you and I. I remember Trescothick saying something similar on Englands last visit a couple of years ago. In no way is this a slur on anyone connected to the ground maintenance at Stormont.
If someone complains about something at differing times it's hearsay, twice is a rumour, and more than that is fact!
why did the ncu play the waringstown vs instonians game on sunday? north down vs waringstown should have been sunday with waringstown vs instonians possibly the decider the next saturday. i'm raging at that!
generally the clubs arrange the dates themselves davey
Yes Mark was up practicing today at the single stump, its actually quite sunny in Moira and also windy so there should be plenty of drying. The forecast is not to awful for next few days so should be some cricket at the final tomorrow and for this weekend.(We hope).
Still waiting for a photo of Gerry Mallin, where's he gone?
Hope he has'nt dozed off by the fireside reading or colouring in one of those books of his! And fallen in!! Perish the thought!!!
there is an excellent article by Ger Siggins about Collingwood & co on the Cricket Europe website. Sums it all up really.
Mark I don't think a lot of cricketers in the North West know about the UC site and I don't think there's any more sniping here than in the NCU. Forums attract some loose talk but overall they are good fun and friendly banter. Look at Big Davy and Sam. Bet you Big Davy will invite Sam to Waringstown's celebration dinner next month!
Well said Mr. Stafford. I'm sure all UC forumites will share your sentiments. It would be great to see some more NW participation on this website but they seem preoccupied on the other channel with sniping at each other. Come to think of it, isn't that what we all do?Any weather forecast for the Hills?
Any odds for a DL result Jeff?
As this is the Ulster Cricketer site (and not the NCU cricketer) I would like to wish Donemana CC every success in Dublin for the ISC.
They are a great bunch of lads and the club is a really special place to play or watch cricket. All of the North West will be supporting them and I suspect most of the NCU as well.
Good luck guys and I hope to be at The Hills to cheer you on.
Davey, don't take anything for granted until the timings of all innings, player registrations, scorebooks, locations of matches and gradings of grounds used have been checked. And thats before various committees and legal teams have their say. It wouldn't be the NCU without an end of season controversy!
there has been a marked lack of input from the "English contingent" et al. It couldn't be anything to do with the way the Ashes winners were about to take the convicts apart on Sunday before the rain intervened? mmmmm.
i hope not. anyway if we win on saturday we will at least share the league anyway!
No Gerry,we could not hold the Victoria annual dinner dance in Cafolla's cafe even if we wanted to.
The reason being as you alluded to in a previous post is due to the greater numbers of players now turning out and playing cricket with our club.
Yes we are considering entering a 3rd eleven into the league next season, this has been the first season I can remember when even when both 1st and 2nd teams have been playing on a Sat. our Second eleven Captain has had to disapoint one or two lads and leave them at home.
Changed times from the days when Gerald as 2nds Capt. had to promise some fella a free chip on the way home, if he would play cricket and make the team up to maybe ten or even nine players!
So changed times for us,what has happened to 'the Ports',I see their 2nd eleven has been ruled off the NCU league table. Funny enough their last game seems to have been against us, I no they did'nt like a hammering but there was no need to just 'give up'!
