Mark I don't think a lot of cricketers in the North West know about the UC site and I don't think there's any more sniping here than in the NCU. Forums attract some loose talk but overall they are good fun and friendly banter. Look at Big Davy and Sam. Bet you Big Davy will invite Sam to Waringstown's celebration dinner next month!
Well said Mr. Stafford. I'm sure all UC forumites will share your sentiments. It would be great to see some more NW participation on this website but they seem preoccupied on the other channel with sniping at each other. Come to think of it, isn't that what we all do?Any weather forecast for the Hills?
Any odds for a DL result Jeff?
As this is the Ulster Cricketer site (and not the NCU cricketer) I would like to wish Donemana CC every success in Dublin for the ISC.
They are a great bunch of lads and the club is a really special place to play or watch cricket. All of the North West will be supporting them and I suspect most of the NCU as well.
Good luck guys and I hope to be at The Hills to cheer you on.
Davey, don't take anything for granted until the timings of all innings, player registrations, scorebooks, locations of matches and gradings of grounds used have been checked. And thats before various committees and legal teams have their say. It wouldn't be the NCU without an end of season controversy!
there has been a marked lack of input from the "English contingent" et al. It couldn't be anything to do with the way the Ashes winners were about to take the convicts apart on Sunday before the rain intervened? mmmmm.
i hope not. anyway if we win on saturday we will at least share the league anyway!
No Gerry,we could not hold the Victoria annual dinner dance in Cafolla's cafe even if we wanted to.
The reason being as you alluded to in a previous post is due to the greater numbers of players now turning out and playing cricket with our club.
Yes we are considering entering a 3rd eleven into the league next season, this has been the first season I can remember when even when both 1st and 2nd teams have been playing on a Sat. our Second eleven Captain has had to disapoint one or two lads and leave them at home.
Changed times from the days when Gerald as 2nds Capt. had to promise some fella a free chip on the way home, if he would play cricket and make the team up to maybe ten or even nine players!
So changed times for us,what has happened to 'the Ports',I see their 2nd eleven has been ruled off the NCU league table. Funny enough their last game seems to have been against us, I no they did'nt like a hammering but there was no need to just 'give up'!
I would just like to congratulate lurgan on securing promotion. Well done boys, well deserved. Look forward to the game at your place on saturday with a hangover after fergy's wedding
Davey, oh it's all gone quiet over here! I'm giving up predictions for a while. North Down would need to win six games now to have a chance and it will be an achievement to even get six games played. League looks like a two horse race and will probably be won by however get the most games played. Maybe I should tip Waringstown to see if my reverse Midas touch works?
Vic it would take more than one stump to hold a picture of me !! i,ve heard the fish suppers are good in Cafollas is that were this year VCC club dinner is being held ???
Gerry Mallin
Good man Gerry,I've had a great idea how to improve on my wayward bowling.
If you would kindly send Victoria C.C. a photograph of yourself, then I can stick it to the middle stump. I can assure you I would hit the target every time !
I'm away to Cafolla's cafe to tell our "Pro" about my new idea, think he will certainly approve!
Thanks Andy i,m only looking at the pictures so far what would you recommend pencils or crayons ? what are you reading sorry colouring in at the minute ???
Vic the truth hurts you will just have to live with it !!! I,ve heard that there might be 3rd eleven dowm @ Mud puddle Park is this true, Gerry " The Pro" might make a comeback along with those other two auld boys that Andy was talking to . by the way i think the cricket season is over !!!!! will it ever stop raining
Well done Instonians who were the better side on the day with their fielding off the highest standard & have too say fair play to North Down who took thier defeat well .My man of the match for what its worth was deff Rory Mccann for his super innings & excellent wicket keeping & yes Andrew White did play well also but the STAR OF THE DAY was groundsman Raymond Moreland along with his hard working team who gave both teams & spectators the chance too see a thrilling Down Democrat cup final .And was good too see umpire Ted Cooke their after his illness & wish him a speedy recovery. ps thanks Robin wife took your 20£ for petrol but no doubt North Down will come back stronger on a lovely ground too play cricket.
north down beaten. well done instonians. look whos talkin now sammy lol. we might just be winning more than pub of the year. only joking mate!
Vic Johns - funny enough the boys & I had a deep & meaningful conversation with Messrs. Follis & McNally while sheltering under the stand during a rain break on Thursday - and the name of your senior pro came up during the conversation. Some guys from the Ballygomartin Road there as well so you can guess how the level of debate lowered!!
