Gerry Mallin
Good man Gerry,I've had a great idea how to improve on my wayward bowling.
If you would kindly send Victoria C.C. a photograph of yourself, then I can stick it to the middle stump. I can assure you I would hit the target every time !
I'm away to Cafolla's cafe to tell our "Pro" about my new idea, think he will certainly approve!
Thanks Andy i,m only looking at the pictures so far what would you recommend pencils or crayons ? what are you reading sorry colouring in at the minute ???
Vic the truth hurts you will just have to live with it !!! I,ve heard that there might be 3rd eleven dowm @ Mud puddle Park is this true, Gerry " The Pro" might make a comeback along with those other two auld boys that Andy was talking to . by the way i think the cricket season is over !!!!! will it ever stop raining
Well done Instonians who were the better side on the day with their fielding off the highest standard & have too say fair play to North Down who took thier defeat well .My man of the match for what its worth was deff Rory Mccann for his super innings & excellent wicket keeping & yes Andrew White did play well also but the STAR OF THE DAY was groundsman Raymond Moreland along with his hard working team who gave both teams & spectators the chance too see a thrilling Down Democrat cup final .And was good too see umpire Ted Cooke their after his illness & wish him a speedy recovery. ps thanks Robin wife took your 20£ for petrol but no doubt North Down will come back stronger on a lovely ground too play cricket.
north down beaten. well done instonians. look whos talkin now sammy lol. we might just be winning more than pub of the year. only joking mate!
Vic Johns - funny enough the boys & I had a deep & meaningful conversation with Messrs. Follis & McNally while sheltering under the stand during a rain break on Thursday - and the name of your senior pro came up during the conversation. Some guys from the Ballygomartin Road there as well so you can guess how the level of debate lowered!!
Andy from Buckna !
Andy, your obviously a man of a similiar disposition to myself; that is highly intelligent, articulate and extremely knowledgable on all things cricket.
So if you ever have the misfortune to meet that fellow Gerry Mallin in person ,please Andy call me first!
He could'nt have insulted me more were he to stick a dagger in my heart !
And I'm not talking about him referring me missing the stumps now and again!!!
EDITOR good luck tomorrow (not to much) and i will be at game to pay up my bet ( unlike tayto) or lift 20£ hope the weather stays good and the best side WINS . PS ROBIN IF I LOSE ILL TELL TAYTO TOO PAY YOU .LOL
pleased to learn that Gerry is in the middle of a book. Maybe he couild tell us how many pages he has coloured in so far?
I notice that none of the English correspondents have come on to disassociate themselves from Mr. Collingwood's rather ungracious comments. Interesting that the Aussies have no similar problems in going to Scotland. Aren't we so lucky that our betters deign to come to the outback to entertain us yokels?
A great day and a respectable effort... But this was a game Ireland should have won, Porterfield was gutted and rightly so.
Its hard for part time players down the order to manipulate high quality spin bowling and that was what ultimately won England the game.
Plus points have to be Stirlings batting and Irelands fielding and bowling was of the highest standard. Trent Johnston in his 100th game was superb, dont the English media get bored of mentioning his Aussie roots? To be honest its getting beyond a joke with all their players coming from all over the world i,e Trott/Pietersen.
Was also dismayed to hear Paul Collingwoods smarmy remarks... maybe he should think back when Durham started out in first class cricket and how their facilities shaped up and how visiting counties looked down their nose at them....
Also nice to meet Clarence and Taito and hear the "big man" on top form!
Ref ; Vic Jons
Glad to see that you enjoyed the match even if you were supporting the losing side , even better that your down to one stump , i heard that you started the season bowling at six and still couldn,t hit them !!! and i am astonished that Gerry "The Pro " is not among your list of N.Ireland superstars
i always told you that he wasn,t that good any way maybe you have seen the light ???
Re: Observer
Millpark 2nds have performed etter this season as the 1st eleven got relegated last year to now section 3 (to which we have already guarenteed promotion) and so has not had as many games this season and with a few players making themselves more available and so the seconds have been able to field stronger teams this season, you are obviously from a team that we have beaten this season as this sounds very much like sour grapes to me, as i was 2nds captain for the previous 3 years i THOUGHT id struck up a decent relationship with all the teams we came up against and as i am the fixtures secretary for both the 1sts and 2nds this season i dont recall begging anyone to play us when the 1sts have no game!!!
i would also like to add that we have i think only played one game this season when the 1sts have had a game which we won as a small club we had to forfeit a game against champions elect Laurelvale funny how things have worked out this year, i would appreciate you come on and use your real name if you have a problem or an issue with our club maybe show some balls
Just like to echo Vic's remarks. Good performance for Ireland yesterday and a good advertisement for Irish cricket. Young Stirling did well and has shown that NCU players can mix with the best of them. Praise has to go to young Joe Denly too who has shown he's got a good future ahead of him in the England side.
First time watching Ireland play cricket at a live venue and against England no less, absolutely a super performance by the Irish players, matched the Englishmen pound for pound in all aspects and result lost only on the penultimate ball of the game.
Great stuff Cricket Ireland/Ulster,hope this is the start of many more internationals to come.
Bye the way, answers to my earlier posting Ref Sporting Genuis Three of the greatest.
1.George Best
2.Alex Higgins
3.Joey Dunlop
I reckon an Irish cricketer may one day join that elite list !
