On a different note about Holywood - definitely up there as providers of one of the best teas! Not quite as good as Lisburn but certainly catching up. Isn't it strange that the teas at the so-called 'big spenders' are no match for Wallace Park & Seapark?

Re: the fake Sheik and Holywood,

surely you're not dipping into the wannabe second eleven structure ?

Sheikh Mansour,

I see you've joined the merry throng in advocating a spend, spend attitude and while a fresh face is always welcome, I sincerely hope you're not considering pumping a few quid into local player's pockets or worse still, tender a bid for a cricket club?

I appreciate you may be somewhat bored and despairing of your last acquisition, peeved at wasting £210 million of a net £17 billion worth on Man City FC. Who could blame you?

But I've news for you, save your doe, it doesn't and won't work here either!

It's been tried before many times without favourable return and cricket isn't the only game to fall victim to such bravado and folly, other high profile sports have suffered similar fates and the common denominator in the aftermath of inevitable failure was and is always the same..

a sickly residue of discord, disharmony and dishevelment amongst players and supporters alike and then the rebuilding begins all over again, while their once great hope and saviour has long since flown to greener pastures.

So please my fine fellow, take some good advice and buy a few more racehorses or racing cars if you're currently at a loss, then you can bet away on them to your heart's content and who knows, you might even get something back on your considerable outlay this time?

Ps. Hard luck today on your country's loss to Ireland, you see, money just can't buy success!

Great to see Holywood with ambition following promotion and obviously they have actively recruited.

Not sure if the £££'s will bring loyalty though--did the insurance man take a wrong turn on the way to Belmont?
Would be nice to see them complementing this ambition by developing their youth structure--they're the real future of any club-paid players are only the present!

All,

We are looking to reignite the Ulster Grasshoppers with an annual dinner and also potentially a short 4/5 day tour this year. The club is looking to get new people involved young or old and would welcome any new additions.

Consequently the Grasshoppers will be holding their annual dinner this Saturday evening at Malone golf club. ( Attire - Shirt & Tie no denim ).
Cost is £30 a head for a 3 course meal with after dinner speakers Peter McMorran and Colin Barkley. 7pm for 7.30pm.

If you are interested in getting involved or coming to the dinner please can you drop an email to myself ( carl_b_williams@hotmail.com) or Ricky Finley (richard@finlaygrahamproperty.com) and we will be happy to give you anymore details.

Enclosed is a link to the grasshopper website.

I fully agree with the Fake Sheik..... If you have it spend it... Why not.
What you spend your money on is your business.....
Just be careful you don't forget about your clubs long standing values chasing a 'quick buck'....
And don't forget the lads who got you into section 1, that's mistake made by many clubs, don't be frightened to share your £££ with them too.

Good luck to you Sheik...
If surrounding yourself with fit young men is your thing, fill your boots.

fair play to them...if they have it spend it

theyre a good young team who just got promoted and want to build by the sounds of it

i doubt they would survive in div 1 without a few guns and then the premier lge sharks would come hunting the talent

move with the times if you want to survive or stay on the feeder system

Qu. What do you get if you cross Billy McGintys goat with Paddy P ?

Ans. 'Paddy McGintys goat'

An infamous beast once known for terrorising the ladies of Killiloo and who ate Mickey Rileys £20 note, when they tried to retrieve said note by means of a stomach pump all they got back was ninepence?

Moral of the tale... Don't throw good money after bad !

Ed....
No Innuendo at all.

I hear Holywood are spending like a drunken sailor in Dubarry's on 24 hour shore leave.....

Response...
Never been to Dunbarry's but I get the drift. The mention of the club was the clue. Lol

Plenty of ££££'s floating about Section 1 this weather....
Seems like I've retired too early AGAIN !!
After years of moaning and coins in the glass at the NCU dinner it now seems that the lads from Cultra have adopted the mantra of their near neighbours at Belmont with a 'pay as you play' attitude.
PaddyP's comments should be interesting on this subject !

Response

Ed...
Too much innuendo 'Billy.' Say it the way it is.

Colin I'm glad your fears didn't materialise . To get everything sorted and all away by 8pm was a great effort. Well done to us all.

Why are the ladies fixtures sorted before the men's fixtures have been thrashed out in the junior leagues interesting if there is a clash and both are at home

Junior 5-8 fixture meeting on Tuesday night.

Purely my own request not speaking on behalf of my club but are there any clubs who are playing in J8 happy with the 1 game per team format?

Is there any chance that the league could be split in two with H & A or is there no interest?

Failing that would it be possible to stagger the fixture meeting with possibly J8 starting at 8.00pm giving clubs with teams in j5-7 a chance to get fixtures and grounds sorted so that those of us in the bottom tier can come up with a plan of action.

I know it's not easy and failure to fulfill fixtures in what was J9 will be mentioned as a reason for the new structure but this is likely to be a long meeting.
