WALSH WINS SKY SPORTS AWARD

38 counties are involved in the Sky Sports Rewards and Recognition Scheme plus Europe and Wales

Brian was recognised and rewarded for his long standing services to coaching and coach administration on Saturday at the Old Trafford Test match by David Lloyd during the lunch interval.
 
Brian was nominated by his country because:
  1. Has been cricket development officers in Northern Ireland for the last 9 years.
  2. Each year, he organises 9 regional squads.
  3. Has worked with Irish Sports Council to ensure top 5 NI based Irish World Cup players were given six months full time coaching and support first class players would expect.
  4. Working to ensure there is a Level 3 course partly available in Belfast.
 
On the day Brian commented,
“ It was very well organised, a great experience and superb all round day. Congratulations to Sky Sports and the ECBCA for their recognition of coaches throughout the country.”

In addition to rewarding long-standing servants of cricket coaching, Sky Sports is currently working in partnership with the ECB to provide Sky Sports coaching scholarships for new coaches throughout the country including Europe.
 
On an annual basis, 3000 new coaches will have any opportunity to be involved with this scheme.
 
Coaches in this scheme who are linked to the recognised 1,450 ECB focus clubs, will receive a 50% bursary, when attending and completing an ECB Level 2 coach education course or higher.
 
This scheme will support the development of 1.25 million youngsters each year throughout the 38 counties.
