SQUADS FOR TRI-SERIES

There are three players with Irish connections in the South Africa squad
named to play at Stormont later this month.

Vernon PhilanderAB de Villiers is no stranger to NCU followers as he smashed local bowlers all over the place during his record breaking spell with Carrick, while Morne van Wyk spent a short period as overseas player at Instonians.
The most interesting selection is that of Vernon Philander, who was employed as Ireland's first overseas player for the 2007 season but subsequently had to withdraw due to injury.

Squad: Jacques Kallis (capt), Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Hall, Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thandi Tshabalala, Morne van Wyk

The Indian squad contains a host of internationally recognisable names, with Rahul Dravid captain of a team which includes one of the world's greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Mahendra Dhoni.

Squad: Rahul Dravid (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Piyush Chawla, Ramesh Powar, Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma.

The schedule will start with Ireland playing India on Saturday June 23 and then South Africa the following day – games given additional spice since Ireland have now joined the official ODI world rankings as a result of their performances in the recent World Cup in the West Indies.After the Ireland games, the Indian and South African Test ranking countries will play three matches on Tuesday, June 26, Friday June 29 and Sunday July 1.
