Shaw's Bridge Sports Association hosted the first meeting of the new 'Board of Directors' of the NCU on November 8th.

Board of Directors Meeting November 8th 2007

NCU Board Chairman, Larne's Wylie McKinty, chaired the meeting with the other directors and assistant directors in attendance with the President, Woodvale's Ian Gourley.   The main points going from the meeting were:

General Secretary Position

The board decided that the vacant position of General Secretary would need advertised for suitable candidates to apply.   The board agreed that once a detailed job specification was produced, a notice would be made for any interested candidates to apply. 

It is expected that the position will be advertised within 10 days and a new General Secretary would be in place within 4 weeks.  

Competitions Directorate

Director, Bryan Milford, announced that his directorate was in place and would be meeting on November 14 th.  They would be discussing the following at the meeting:

·         Division 1 Fixtures and cup competitions

·         League Structures

·         Deployment of Hon Section Secretaries & possible cup competition committee

·         Match rearrangement policy

·         Possible IT strategy for going forward

Finance & Sponsorship Directorate

Dawn Johnston, director, announced that Robin Walsh was to be co-opted onto the directorate.    There are still positions available on this directorate, particularly for club representatives. 

It was expected that the directorate will be meeting w/c November 19 th and one of the main objectives was to discuss a 3 year development plan and produce a document on this. 

Cricket Development Directorate

The director, Andy Clement, revealed that he would be co-opting Andy McCrea and Billy Dale onto his directorate.   The directorate would be meeting on November 15th to discuss items including:

·         Deciding on grounds committee

·         Metal Technology Twenty20 cup

Forward Planning Directorate

Billy Boyd, director, made it know that his directorate had still some place available and especially for club representatives.   His directorate was mainly focusing on:

·         Implementation of the Development Plan for NCU

·         Communication with clubs to understand what they are hoping to get from cricket

·         Recruiting representatives from lower league clubs – section 3 & 4

Goldblatt McGuigan Junior Cup

It was decided that the draw will take place at Goldblatt McGuigan, Belfast, week commencing November 19 th.  More information will follow.
