Having topped their respective groups in the four-day competition, Canada, who will be contesting its first final, and defending champions Ireland will battle it out on this neutral ground, which has hosted international cricket before back in 1999 during the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Ireland topped Group A of the ICC Intercontinental Cup after registering a very comprehensive outright victory over the United Arab Emirates at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi in February. Eoin Morgan with 209 not out, recorded the highest ever individual score for Ireland. His partnership of 360 with Andre Botha was also an Irish and competition record. Earlier in the competition Ireland had beaten Namibia and drawn with Scotland , which was enough to top the group with 43 points from Scotland who ended up with 35.
Meanwhile, Canada has got to its first final in the three-year history of the event having beaten Bermuda and Kenya along the way. It lost to the Netherlands but still managed to finish above the Dutch, who could not beat the other two teams in Group B.
The appointment of umpires and match referee will be made in due course.
