BAT AND BALL DOUBLE FOR EWEN

11 June 2007

New Zealander Ewen Thompson made doubly sure he was on the list of the first Ulster Bank cricket awards of the season.

He has picked up two of them with both bat and ball as a result of his early season exploits for Civil Service North in the premier section of the Bank-sponsored NCU Senior League.

The awards are for players in the four sections of the league who score centuries, take at least six wickets or perform a hat trick.

First up for the CSNI professional was a century against Derriaghy early in May which took his side to a seven -wicket win.  Then before the month was out he completed the unusual double with the ball by taking 7-19 to secure an eight-wicket win over Lurgan.
