Has anybody read the 2017 NCU Regulations? The 'one final warning' in respect of 'over waist height' full bungers could make for interesting times ahead!!

So I see at least two if not three of the section 1 clubs are going ahead with their overseas professionals. I'm intrigued as to how these clubs are going to position this if the home office come knocking? Both guys have been here before and paid for playing cricket. Pretty sure one has played first class before. Both breaches of the standard visitor visa. Huge gamble and fur what end result? It seems crazy to me. Rather than spend wasting time on other clubs, try make the most of this season.
The NCU is responsible, aware and competent.

Alex Haggan is a top quality cricket coach! Shows great class and rapport with the children he coaches.
I'd definitely trust him to go to the shop for me. Keep it up Alexander. Need more coaches like you.
Simon stone, you've obviously got the Wong person.

Mr Simon Stone gives us another perfect example of the oxymoron syndrome!

Example. First he claims not to know someone by asking who is it?

Then in the same sentence, he claims he knows the person through previous association?

Conclusion... Oxymorons are becoming more common and difficult to avoid!

Always think it's unfair to single out individuals on the forum & while I agree some starting a always cause issues I don't see how Carrick should be singled out. Talented first squad and whomever isn't starred is going to play on their 2s when available and without denegtating J2, (which is a far higher league than mine), any of the Carrick first squad should be of a quality to stand out in it.

We are in an era where players see it as beneath themselves to play at a lower level and retire to the golf course rather than help out clubs junior teams or say they are 1s players only regardless of starrings, I personally would like to see more guys like Alex Hagan who are clearly playing for the love of the game wherever they can if not starred.

Who's Alex Haggan? I think he coached my daughter if it's the same guy I'm thinking of. She hasn't been back to training since.

Ref Steven - firstly thank you for being the eyes and ears of the NCU in regard to starrings at clubs other than your own.
I think you will find that Alex Haggan was not in the full Knights squad last year - he played in an NCU Development XI v Munster Reds in a couple of T20 matches.
However I am sure that Carrickfergus CC will take your views on board when finalising their starrings for the incoming season... maybe if you supply your contact details they can send them through to you for your approval...

reading Clarence's posting about the support for the coach reminds me of the "kiss of death" of football chairmen saying that "the manager has my full support". Next step is usually a change of manager!!

Re Alex Haggan

I don't know Alex Haggan but I think last year was a breakthrough year for him as establishing himself as a first eleven cricketer. Well done to the knights in giving the young man a go over the winter as they must see a talented young player.
The last post seems like sour grapes about somebody who is jealous of Carrick as a club and all they have achieved over the last few years. I think Carrick are a real credit to the ncu with the hard work they have put in over the years.
Let's get behind forward thinking clubs like Carrick instead of cheap shots at a club who is developing young players.

I see the NCU squads have been announced. Sincere well done to all involved. It unfortunately brings up a possible anomaly from previous years that I really hope isn't repeated this year re: 1 of the Knights Squad members.

I would hope Alex Haggan is now going to be starred for Carrick 1sts ? Last year he wasn't starred and was therefore able to play a few games in Jr 2. Does anyone think that was fair ? Or that it would be fair for a Knights player to not be starred this year ?

I wonder where the NCU watchdogs were looking last year, because they weren't looking at Carrick ?

oxymoron
?noun
a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (e.g. faith unfaithful kept him falsely true ).

I read that article too Clarence, definitely lots of good material in there for a poem me thinks?

Love this quote on a recent article from Ian Callender;
"As his line manager, CI High Performance manager Richard Holdsworth said yesterday: “He has my full support but results are results and there haven’t been some good results and therefore this summer is very important for that.”
But don't forget the High Performance levels haven't been achieved for some time not just recently in India. The problem should be a joint responsibility and not just the coach.
If the next CI Board is not under review on High Performance and results, then perhaps it should?
