Have to agree with Andy on this one.It depends if you put the needs of your club first or rather hope for some personal glory for yourself.Personally I think Hutchy(or anyone else for that matter) would gain more satisfaction from helping his club (Bangor) get promotion - a Club were he has played all his cricket and with team-mates he has grown up with.
Just my opinion !

Regarding the N.C.U. A.G.M. as the Ed. says,there was'nt much change as it turned out. The main debate centred on the reduction of leagues and Andy Clemments from the Cricket Directive body, put up a passionate and vorcifirous case as to why the leagues should be brought down to 8 next season.
But to counter this a few club representives equally put forward valiant cases as to why the leagues should remain the same.
When the votes were cast it went in favour of the latter and for no change,but it proved a close call.
One more noteworthy point: The Challenge and Junior cup finals are now to be contested on the one day and in the case of the former,only Premier and division one to compete.
Hope this fills you in ok, and don't worry some-day England will come good again and win Something!!

Yes I agree. I think money should be spent on facilities as opposed to PROs however having a PRO also boosts the profile of the club which attracts new players / kids to make use of these facilities. It's an all round package.
note what Frank says but I'm sure that there are players who would put club loyalty first.
mr and mrs smith/smyth and davey. You guys are gossiping early this year. One minor point which my old mucker staffy might latch onto. Are waringstown or indeed any ncu team satisfied with just competing for all trophies in the ncu? I know north down are not and at csn the focus is trying to make an impression on the irish cup. I am sure instonians after a top season will want to perform on the biggest stage. could the ncu be equipped to get a success in 2010? When is the draw, do any bookies give odds?
Irish Senior Cup draw is on November 16th, not that I'm interested or anything!

Im sure the travelling wudnt be a problem considering he's a teacher and is off in the summer?? or maybe it would i dont know? but if you had the choice to play at the lawn and challenge for every trophy in the ncu or play in section 2 for a player of that ability would seem strange surely? again maybe not>!
Davey : Hutchy would do very well at Waringstown, but I wouldn't see him leaving Bangor just yet, especially travelling all the way down to The Lawn every other week!
Gary. Rumours that mark hutchinson could be coming to waringstown but i would think it would be unlikely!

All I know chaps it needs to be an absolute belting wicket/surface/pitch/playing area for me to get any runs!
The best I played on this year was Saintfield without a doubt

There is no doubt that the "2 up/2 down" scenario creates more interest - especially down the leagues where sides aren't involved in ISC, Clubturf, Ulster Shield, etc. A couple of wins or losses and teams can be sucked into promotion/relegation situations.
If all the clubs in the Union were as progressive and ambitious as Dundrum cricket here would be on a sound footing.
A cricket wicket is a unique surface that even the top groundsmen in the world dont always get right never mind volunteers working against the weather with what is often substandard machinery so the "observers" comments are uneducated at best.
On the NCU A.G.M - I personally feel 10 team leagues is the best way to continue going forward, league competition is the bread and butter of any sport and any move to cut leagues down is an elitist one, in my personal view.
