Re: Jack and Holywood (one L)
It seems that Holywood did let that win go but Saintfield must have played well too - was it the legend who done the damage? I hear this pro is a very good player with over 500 so far this season.
However I hear that their opening batsman Peter Maxwell has retired and also that Michael Shannon needs only 2 more wkts for 1000 in his career and after he takes his 1000th he will retire from 1st XI.
Just heard about Hollywood game on Saturday against saintfield, cruising at 190-1 chasing 230 with pro on 100 to lose their last 9 wickets for 30 odd runs and lose! Hard to believe
Well said Clarence. I recall with great fondness various outings to Point to Point races with Miller, Betty, Alan, Raymond Moreland, Cyril Peak, Dessie Savage and Ceefax, usually followed by a trip to Auld House in Moneyreagh. They were always good days out, and many of the stories are still being told. Very sad news indeed and my thoughts are with Betty, Alan and Young Miller at this time.
Re Miller O'Prey
Id echo Hiler's message entirely.
Condolences to Betty,Alan,Miller jr and all the family.
A sad day.
Russeller
congratulations to big al van der merwe on his selection for the ireland squad. first derriaghy man to be selected for ireland...i know he plays for the hills now, but we r still claiming it.
Clarence - it is with shock & sadness that I read your posting. I have many memories of the wee man especially at the Sun Life 6s. Of course they are not limited to cricket as he had other interests and I recall him coming unseated one day at Galgorm and his reaction to the cheers of Michael & Jonny who were about 6 & 4 at the time. Another "character" has left us.
It is with great sadness that I report the sudden death of former North Down all rounder Miller O'Prey. He played senior cricket for over 20 years and appeared in three NCU senior cup finals, although he was a natural at Sixes cricket on and off the field. Abrasive at times, he ruffled a few feathers over the years, but those who go back far enough will recall with pleasure the brighter side of his enigmatic character. I for one will never forget his friendship and camaraderie going back some fifty years.
Sincere condolences to Betty, Miller (jun) and Alan.
Rest in peace Miller.
Thanks Neil,
And Moira Primary came 4th. and there was a sprinkling of the 'Lurgan tigers'in their team as well !
Infact from what I could see, nearly all the schools had members from the tigers playing in their respective teams, just shows how popular and successful the Lurgan Tiger youth system is up at Pollock Park.
I don't think David Attenborough needs to worry about the conservation of the endangered 'wild-tiger' !
It is thriving and multiplying very nicely all around the greater Lurgan/Craigavon area!
Great stuff, keep it going Lurgan C.C.
Guys
The competition to win two tickets to Ireland v Australia closes at midday today (Monday), have a go!

Vic
The primary schools tournament was a great success.
Waringstown PS did win, but out of the 10 players, 7 were Lurgan Tigers !!!
Yes Sam, everyone at the Ulster Cricketer will agree with your comments. This is a richly deserved honour and I'm sure everyone at the Green will be hoping he retires from all cricket now as he seems to have a particular liking for the North Down bowlers!
Just joking of course, as we all hope he's around for many years as he remains a great ambassador for cricket and sport in general.
Well done Kyle.
Congratulations to Kyle McCallan. A richly deserved award, and it is good to see local cricket being recognised in this way.
Hi Jim - Looks like the LPR has confirmed that my source was close to the truth!!
lol vic, if you want an Enngland shirt I'll get you one.
Andy,I think you should give Jim a wee job up around Buckna, I would really recommend him as a 'first class slurry spreader'no doubt about it !
Seriously though, just back in from watching a brilliant Primary school youth tournament for mainly p7's up at Pollock Pk.Lurgan.
Loads of local schools competing from all round the broader Lurgan/Craigavon area, including Moira Primary where my many nephews, nieces and ofcourse sons attend!
Every youngster having 'a ball'(boys& girls)and a real competitive edge to it,with as expected Waringstown Primary the team to beat!
So I must repeat myself again, well done Lurgan C.C. and their organisers, fantastic effort keep it going.
Oh..and have to say, did'nt hear one mention or talk of any upcoming football tournaments, not even an English football shirt on view.....I love it !!!
