RSA Insurance today announced details of an expanded sponsorship of Ireland’s Senior National Cricket Team in 2010...

RSA INSURANCE ANNOUNCE €100,000 INVESTMENT

...with an added investment of €100,000. The investment comes as the sponsors bid farewell to the Senior Men’s Cricket Squad prior to their departure for the upcoming 2010 World Twenty20 in the Caribbean.

In addition to its 3 year Title Sponsorship agreement with the Ireland National Teams the new investment will see RSA Insurance:-

-         Support Ireland’s Senior Team as they prepare for the World Twenty20 finals in theCaribbean in April

-         Become Match Sponsor of the high profile One Day International against Australia in Clontarf, Dublin onJune 17, 2010

Announcing the expanded relationship Philip Smith, CEO, RSA Ireland commented: “Ireland continues to strengthen its position within the international cricket arena and RSA is delighted to play a key part in supporting their ambition and hunger for success. We’re happy to deepen our relationship with the Senior National Team in 2010.” 

“A primary focus this year will be the team’s successful participation against the leading cricket nations at this year’s Twenty20 World Cup which kicks off next month and then, on June 17, we have a real clash of the titans when Australia, the number one ranked team in the world, visitDublin for the RSA Challenge match in Clontarf.  Cricket continues to build it’s presence on a global basis and in Ireland and we’re proud to have the RSA brand associated with this great sport and a great Irish team”, concluded Smith.

At today’s event in RSA House Ireland Coach Phil Simmons also confirmed the full Twenty20 Ireland squad who will depart for warm up games and the World Cup tournament on 1st April 2010(squad details attached).

The tournament will be contested by 12 seeded teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group proceed to the latter stages. Ireland compete in Group D against hosts West Indies (30th April) and England (4th May).
