NORTH DOWN TWENTY20 CUP LAUNCHED

On Sunday 3rd June as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations, North Down Cricket Club is hosting the first ever Twenty20 competition involving teams from both the NCU and North West Cricket Unions.

Tournament Organiser Robin Haire, Norman Mawhinney (One Stop Mortgage Shop) Club Chairman Ian Carser, Phillip Davidson (One Stop Mortgage Shop), 1st XI Captain Peter Shields

The tournament is very kindly being sponsored by One Stop Mortgage Shop and the winners will receive £400. The runners-up will receive £200 and there will also be a trophy for the winning team and a ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.

Norman Mawhinney, proprietor of One Stop Mortgage Shop commented that he was delighted to be associated with the event, “North Down Cricket Club is one of the premier cricket teams in the country and we are delighted to be associated with them in their 150th year. This event is a special one and we hope that all the players and supporters from the visiting teams join their hosts in enjoying the big day”.

Tournament organiser Robin Haire added, “This is a massive event and we’re looking forward to welcoming the players, officials and supporters of all the participating clubs, and regular followers ofUlster cricket who will no doubt want to see what is a unique event on the local cricket calendar. 10am               Derriaghy v Lurgan

                        Lisburn v North Down

1pm                 Eglinton v Donemana

                        Limavady v Glendermott

4pm                 SEMI-FINALS

6.30pm            FINAL

Admission to what promises to be an outstanding days cricket is FREE, while food and refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day.

North Down would like to remind both members and visitors that there are strictly no ‘Carry Outs’ allowed on club grounds.
