Dundrum Cricket Club received great news this week which will hopefully see them improve their playing facilities at The Medaow, probably the most scenic ground in the whole of Ireland.
During the 2020 off-season, the Club committee set the goal of building a two-bay net facility at the Meadow, as well as aiming to relay the square. The inspiration behind these goals was to improve training sessions for both juniors and seniors, allowing the Club to increase capacity in the evening sessions and improve their match-day playing conditions. This project amassed an estimated cost of £89,300.00.
Earlier this week the club was informed that it have obtained a grant worth £44,400.00 from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council which will go towards the construction and implementation of a fully enclosed double bay practice facility and relaying of the square.
Along with this, the club has been supported by the Dundrum Development Association who have provided funding of some £30,000.00.
This leaves the club approximately £15,000.00 away from its goal. Over the course of the next few months, the club will host raffles and other fundraising events to help reach this goal. Any and all support is greatly appreciated by the players and members of Dundrum Cricket Club.
The Club would like to would offer the greatest of thanks to their club treasurer Stephen Calvert. Stephen was the architect behind this idea, and his commitment to time and people is what made this project come to life. Stephen, the Club thank you for your time and effort and it would not be where it is now (or where it is heading) without you.
Thanks also goes to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, as well as Dundrum Development Association.
Let’s help the Club get fundraising!
