Gallagher Women's Challenge Cup Final Preview

Helen Breet of Muckamore and Abbi Leckey of CSNI with the Women’s Gallagher Challenge Cup which they will compete for in Sunday's final at Stormont.

Also pictured are Richard Johnson, President of the NCU, and Shane Matthews, Managing Director of sponsors Gallagher.

On the road to the final Muckamore defeated Carrickfergus by 152 runs with Morrison-Keates top scoring with 83 not out ably supported by Caulfield with an undefeated 68.  Carrickfergus could only muster 47 for the loss of 5 wickets in reply.

In their semi final Muckamore ran out winners by 68 runs against Instonians with Caulfield again in the runs with 41.  Instonians were all out for 55 with Davis the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 9.

CSNI defeated Waringstown by 26 runs in Round one with Cowan top scorer with an unbeaten 54 in a total of 112-1.  Waringstown replied with 86-6.

CSNI got their revenge in the semi-final when they defeated holders Lurgan in what was a repeat of last year's final. Again the margin of victory was 26 runs - CSNI will be hoping for 3 in row by the same margin in the final!

It is great to see the Women's game progress so much in the last few years and good luck to both teams for the final on Sunday. Lets hope the weather is kind.

Finally, a word of thanks to the sponsors Gallagher Insurance.  Without their support it would be very difficult to run this competition successfully.
