It’s that time of the year when most clubs have their Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards. The Ulster Cricketer welcomes news of all these events so please send details and we’ll get them on the site. This week we feature North Down.
The North Down Annual Dinner took place at The Green and the special guests included Northern Cricket Union Vice-President Richard Johnson and his wife Heather, Northern Knights Coach Eugene Moleon and Daniel McConkey from sponsors Rosemount Homes. Club Chairman Peter Shields was MC and Club President Clarence Hiles welcomed the guests.
Richard Johnson replied on behalf of the visitors with an entertaining address that covered a wide variety of sport and personalities. He particularly congratulated groundsman Paul Revell for the excellent ground he had prepared all season and the rating of Number 1 by the NCU.
He also congratulated 1st XI skipper Martin Moreland for the team’s success winning the Ulster Cup and finishing runner-up in the league. Richard’s wife Heather and
Daniel McConkey then presented the prizes to all the top performers including the youth section and the ladies. Indeed it was the ladies who captured the atmosphere of the evening with some stunning dresses.
After all, it’s not all about the cricket!
