NIACUS

NIACUS are putting together a final order for shirts and jackets for delivery in May 2011. Many of you will have admired the new style being worn by our members last season and if you are interested in purchasing a shirt or jacket please let me know by Friday 18th February 2011. We would encourage anyone who is not a member to consider purchasing as the shirts and jackets are of excellent quality.

Andy McCrea
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Andy on winning the ICC Europe Outstanding Coaching Award.

The effort and work he puts into Templepatrick is unbelievable and we would not be the same club without his tireless efforts.

Templepatrick is a club that boasts one of the highest number of level 2 and 3 coaches in the country and with the recent formation of a under 11 girls team and other success including a Graham cup final appearence last season and numerous NCU and Ireland representative honours its clear that Templepatrick are going in the rite direction. This growth and development of the Club including new square and practice facilities is down to the efforts of guys like Andy and other coaches/officers of templepatrick and is a clear sign that Templepatrick has a bright future

Nice to see Andrew Strauss talking so highly of Eoin Morgan at a press conference earlier today. It is a real pity that Eoin and his skills are not going to be on show at this World Cup. But Bopara? Will he is an ample replacement? I think not, but thats why I'm not either playing at that level or picking the squad!!

I have heard a wee whisper that CIYMS has been out waving the cheque-book in the mid-Down & south Antrim area. If true then it does really fly in the face of the postings about their much-vaunted youth development policy that filled the forum last year! Or perhaps they prefer to use other clubs to do the development for them. But then again maybe I heard wrong.

John Rowan kept wickets for both Ballymena and Coleraine. I think Clifford Forsyth of RUC played for Coleraine. Did Craig Lapsley of Ballymena play at Coleraine ? I think there was an Indian pro who maybe played at Derriaghy who ended up at Coleraine.

a former colleague of mine, Billy Platt, is in process of producing the latest in a series of the history of cricket in the NW. This one will be on cricket in the greater Coleraine area and Drew Francey has posted deatils on the Cricket Europe forum. Apart from Phil Carson and Kira More I don't know too many who moved between Coleraine & the NCU so I couldn't gauge the interest but the charity that the proceeds will support makes this a worthwhile cause.

Lisburn CC

7th Feb 2011

Tickets for the Lisburn CC 175th anniversary dinner are now on general release. For further information, please see the news section of the club website, www.lisburncricketclub.co.uk.

The gala dinner features David Lloyd as the principle speaker. Bumble rarely, if ever, does after dinner speaking, and it is a real coup for our club to have him over. The dinner, on 8 October 2011, also features Sean Crummey (the voice behind Folks on the Hill) and we also hope to have the one and only Colin Barclay as MC.

Tickets are priced at £60, with tables of 11 costing £660.00. As there is high demand for tickets, there is a strictly no order without payment policy in place. The application form for tickets is available on the club website.

Club members have already snapped up over 2/3rds of the available tickets and we expect the remainder to sell within the week. So if you want a seat at the dinner and the chance to hear Bumble and the others, book your tickets now.

Nice of Cecil Johnston to mention my name back in the 70's. I remember being on the Bladon Drive YMCA team that put us into the Senior League. That was quite a year, and quite a team. We really did it against the odds. I never worked in the Bank Cecil, but if they have a Pension for me I'll be 65 this year and will happily pick it up next time I'm home. My Email is ken.torrens@gmail.com

Well done Ralph.
We'll start the ball rolling with a pledge of 100 quid.
Good luck and let's see some support from our readers for a cricketer reaching out to support kids in desperate need. It puts everything into perspective.
Best wishes,
Clarence and Peter
